Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Kortez (ranked 6064 p4p, 474 weight class) and Rambo Tan (ranked 4521 p4p, 393 weight class). Tan has chosen He's a Pirate as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Kortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rambo Tan!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Roberts and Lou da Vinci.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Kortez has one foot on Tan's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kortez throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Tan blocks it with crossed arms.
Kortez unloads a knee to the mid-section. Tan lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Tan manages to pull guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tan lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Tan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kortez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tan.
Tan sitting in guard here, content to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Tan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Tan wanted to stand there but Kortez had control of the position.
Kortez is looking to stand back up but Tan counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Kortez.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Tan working over Kortez with some ground and pound. Kortez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Tan in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Kortez tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Tan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rambo Tan!
In his post fight interview, Rambo Tan started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
