Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jude Buchanan (ranked 8627 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Suzuki (ranked 6269 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buchanan takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Suzuki throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

It looks like Jude Buchanan has been cut.
Buchanan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Suzuki shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Buchanan pinned against the cage. Buchanan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Buchanan wants to control from the top but Suzuki keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Suzuki has his foot on Buchanan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Buchanan works his way back into a safe position though.

Buchanan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Suzuki looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Buchanan puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Buchanan wants to work for an arm triangle but Suzuki is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Suzuki holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Buchanan lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Suzuki down.
Suzuki is trying to work for a sweep but Buchanan has mounted him!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Suzuki is desperately trying to improve his position but Buchanan has a good base and remains in mount.

Suzuki reaches up to try and control the position but Buchanan seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Suzuki rolls and tries to escape and now Buchanan has his back!
Suzuki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Buchanan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Buchanan is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Suzuki knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Suzuki for a finish.
Buchanan is trying to stick to Suzuki's back but Suzuki is turning into Buchanan. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Buchanan's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Suzuki.

Buchanan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Buchanan lands in his opponent's guard.

Suzuki seems a little lost for a moment, as Buchanan dominates the positioning.

Buchanan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Suzuki is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
