Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mason Reilly (ranked 24549 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ CHivev (ranked 6272 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mason Reilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, AJ CHivev!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
CHivev feints and then cracks Reilly's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Reilly down.
CHivev throws a shot to the body.

CHivev closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reilly tries to improve position but can't.
Reilly is working hard here to advance position.
CHivev throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

CHivev is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Reilly knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Reilly is looking for a sweep.

Reilly really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Reilly sneaks back into half guard.
CHivev scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Reilly looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
CHivev performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
CHivev not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Reilly is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but CHivev pulls his head out easily.
CHivev content to control rather than advance.

CHivev is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Reilly has managed to free his arm - good work.

CHivev postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Reilly to stand up.

CHivev throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Reilly was covering up waiting for the punch and CHivev finishes the takedown easily into guard.

CHivev with a nice head shot there.
CHivev wants to control from the top but Reilly keeps moving.
CHivev is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Reilly has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but CHivev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Reilly will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Reilly looking for a guillotine here but CHivev defends easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reilly keeping moving, preventing CHivev from controlling successfully.
CHivev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
CHivev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

CHivev avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ CHivev dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


CHivev tries to clinch but Reilly moves out of range.
Reilly tried to counter with a leg kick but CHivev avoided it.
CHivev throws a head kick that misses.
CHivev tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reilly paws at him with a jab and circles away.

CHivev gets a double leg takedown into Reilly's guard.
CHivev trying to control but Reilly is working from the bottom.

Reilly has his foot on CHivev's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. CHivev works his way back into a safe position though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
CHivev with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

CHivev trying to control the position from guard on top but Reilly is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
CHivev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
CHivev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Mason Reilly is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

CHivev looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
CHivev working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Reilly looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
CHivev misses with a head shot. Reilly uses the momentum to regain guard.

Reilly is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. CHivev is aware though and is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
CHivev trying to control the position from guard on top but Reilly is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
CHivev sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Reilly's guard.
Reilly moves into full guard.

Reilly escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. CHivev gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
CHivev looking to sit in guard and control but Reilly gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reilly preventing the sweep.
CHivev can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Reilly controls the pace.

Reilly decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
CHivev rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reilly moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Reilly gets caught napping as CHivev dives in and scores a takedown. Reilly manages to retain guard.
CHivev is breathing heavily.

Reilly is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ CHivev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


CHivev throws a sloppy head kick and Reilly moves out of range easily.
Reilly throws a counter high kick but CHivev was just alert enough to avoid it.

CHivev shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than CHivev was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
CHivev passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Reilly!
Reilly is trying to escape the mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

CHivev goes for an armbar but Reilly turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Reilly.

CHivev has an active guard here but Reilly has managed to pass into half guard.
CHivev takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Reilly in particular looking to stall.
Reilly is looking to take a break and control but CHivev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Reilly is trying to work for a kimura but CHivev is defending well.
CHivev wants to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Reilly stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Nice jab there from CHivev.
CHivev displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reilly.
Reilly keeps the fight on the outside.

CHivev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Reilly sprawls well initially but CHivev persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

CHivev looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
CHivev wants to pass the guard but Reilly is defending well.
Reilly is refusing to be controlled, as CHivev sits in half guard.
Reilly won't allow CHivev to pass to mount.

Reilly manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. CHivev keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

CHivev manages to pull guard.

Reilly drops back looking for a leg! CHivev is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and CHivev manages to kick Reilly off! Reilly jumps back into CHivev's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Reilly advances to half guard.

Reilly is working for a kimura but CHivev is defending it quite comfortably.
AJ CHivev has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
CHivev has a hand on Reilly's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Reilly takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mason Reilly.
Well CHivev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
