Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Milan Burt (ranked 7169 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Ruane (ranked 6505 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Milan Burt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jesus Ruane!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Topper Green and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruane shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Burt napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Burt struggling a bit here.
Ruane wants to control but Burt is keeping him busy.
A lull in the action here as Ruane stalls from top position.
Ruane is looking to take a break and control but Burt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ruane wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Ruane thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Ruane throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Burt works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Burt is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ruane is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ruane is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Burt defends it well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Burt fails with a takedown attempt.
Burt goes for a double leg but Ruane avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ruane continues to drive forward.

Ruane has managed to clinch.

Ruane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ruane closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Burt's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ruane wants to take a breather but Burt manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Ruane.
Ruane is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Burt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ruane is one step ahead there.
Ruane must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Burt wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Burt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ruane stands up from Burt's guard - Ruane perhaps looking for a knockout.

Burt scores with a takedown into Ruane's guard.
Ruane has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Burt has passed into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Burt content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jesus Ruane will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Burt counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Ruane is trying to control but can't.
Burt performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Burt landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Ruane wants to get back to full guard.
Ruane wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Burt perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Burt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ruane for as long as he can get away with.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Ruane has one foot on Burt's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Burt wants to control from the top but Ruane keeps moving.
Ruane is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Ruane jumps guard and drags Burt to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Burt is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Burt with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Burt is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ruane tries to get to full guard but Burt has control of the leg.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Burt's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Milan Burt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Burt seems to be looking for submissions.
Burt is controlling the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Milan Burt will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Ruane wants to free his trapped foot but Burt is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Ruane is trying to control the action in half guard but Burt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Ruane works his way into side control.
Ruane misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Burt is not content to let Ruane control the position.
Burt can't do much from the bottom here.
Burt throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Ruane changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Burt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Burt tries to control but Ruane manages to take his back.
Burt covering up well and avoiding damage.
Burt is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Jesus Ruane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ruane has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
