Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Wittman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Slaughter Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Wittman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Wittman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Slaughter Rico!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico moves in looking to clinch but Wittman pushes him off.
Wittman throws a series of punches but Rico moves out of range.
Rico throws a looping overhand right but Wittman ducks down to avoid it.
Rico tries to clinch up.
Rico throws a head kick that misses.
Wittman has a takedown stuffed.
Wittman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rico as he jumps to the side.
Wittman dodges the punch combination from Rico.
Wittman swats away the attempt to clinch by Rico.
Rico looks to land a combination but Wittman avoids it well.
Rico misses with the combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wittman misses with a takedown attempt - Rico sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Wittman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wittman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rico wants to clinch.
Rico lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wittman circles away quickly and effectively.

Wittman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rico's waist but Rico gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wittman off to one side.
Rico stuffs the takedown.
Rico throws a lazy head kick

so Wittman counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rico manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rico controlling his opponent.
Wittman wants to hold on but Rico pushes him away.
Rico tries to control but Wittman wriggling away.
Wittman sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Rico is trying to control the action in half guard but Wittman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Wittman wants to improve his position but Rico is controlling well.
Wittman won't allow Rico to pass to mount.
Rico passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Wittman!
Wittman tries to reverse the position but Rico maintains control.
Wittman wants to hold on but Rico pushes him away.
Wittman is looking to improve his position but Rico isn't that keen on the idea.
Wittman is breathing heavily.
Rico trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Rico really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wittman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Wittman tries to hold on but Rico postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wittman is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rico sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Wittman is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rico controlling the pace for now.
Wittman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Wittman is working hard here to advance position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rico controlling from the full mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wittman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wittman attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Rico misses with the combination.
Marcus Wittman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No joy there for Rico, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Wittman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rico wants to clinch.
Rico misses with a few strikes there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wittman has a takedown stuffed.
Wittman shoots in for a double leg but Rico sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Wittman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rico was well out of range. Poor timing from Wittman.
Wittman shoots in looking for a takedown. Rico tries to sprawl out of it but Wittman keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rico manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rico tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rico throws a head kick that misses.
Rico misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rico lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wittman circles away quickly and effectively.
Rico misses with a double jab

and Wittman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rico is wriggling around but Wittman manages to pass to half guard.
Wittman controlling the action here.
Wittman uses his free foot to push down on Rico's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rico.

Wittman controlling the pace for now.
Rico is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Wittman jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rico is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rico and Wittman has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Rico tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wittman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Wittman wants to control but Rico is keeping him busy.

Wittman is trying to get an arm triangle but Rico is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rico wants to get back to his feet but Wittman drags him back down.
Rico is looking to reverse the position.
Wittman working away.
Wittman trying to control the action but Rico is working from the bottom.
Rico is trying to buck Wittman off.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Wittman closes the distance and clinches up with Rico, looking for a takedown. Wittman pushes Rico against the cage but Rico circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rico's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Rico duly obliges.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rico lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Wittman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rico but Rico pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jab by Rico.
Rico tries to clinch there but Wittman circles away.
Rico throws a right and a left that Wittman avoids nicely.

Wittman scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Wittman scores with a couple of short elbows.
Rico tries to escape but Wittman is in control.
Rico gets back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rico can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rico is trying to stand.
Wittman wants to control but Rico is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Wittman dominated that second round.
That's time! Wittman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Rico throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rico tries to close the distance and clinch but Wittman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Wittman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Rico misses with a two punch combination.
Wittman is looking to slow Rico down with leg kicks.
Rico throws a right and a left that Wittman avoids nicely.
Rico lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Wittman shoots in for a double leg but Rico sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rico scores with a punch to the head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wittman gets the takedown into side control.
Rico pushes Wittman away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Wittman gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Rico is looking to regain half guard here but Wittman keeps moving and retains side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rico is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Wittman is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Rico is wriggling around trying to escape.
Wittman tries to control but Rico wriggling away.

Wittman looking to secure an arm triangle but Rico defends it well.
Wittman can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rico is looking to escape.
Wittman is really struggling to control Rico but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rico is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Marcus Wittman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rico is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rico regains half guard.
Rico moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Wittman wants to control from the top but Rico keeps moving.
Wittman looking to sit in guard and control but Rico gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rico tries to stand but Wittman is controlling from the bottom.

Wittman has his foot on Rico's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rico works his way back into a safe position though.
Rico tries to free his leg and advance position but Wittman is retaining full guard.
Rico trying to control the position from guard on top but Wittman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wittman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rico looks like he's trying to stand up.
Wittman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rico does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Wittman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Wittman is looking for a kimura but Rico is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wittman to get the leverage.
Rico pushes Wittman off looking to stand but Wittman dives back in and keeps control.

Wittman seems to be looking for submissions.
Slaughter Rico has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rico has one foot on Wittman's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Rico moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Marcus Wittman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Rico throws a hook to the side of Wittman's head but Wittman sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcus Wittman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wittman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
