PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brady Burns (ranked 3917 p4p, 339 weight class) and Rasul Mirzaev (ranked 3976 p4p, 345 weight class). Burns comes into the arena with Pápai Joci - Origo blaring out of the sound system. Mirzaev has chosen Natalie La Rose - Somebody ft. Jeremih as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rasul Mirzaev!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Burns there.
Burns slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mirzaev. Burns does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mirzaev walks into a straight right hand from Burns.

It looks like Rasul Mirzaev has been cut.
Mirzaev takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Burns lunges at Mirzaev with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Mirzaev's hand.
Burns takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mirzaev on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Burns scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mirzaev jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nice defenses there by Burns.
Mirzaev looks to land a left hand but Burns moved out of range nicely.
Burns throws a quick inside leg kick.
Mirzaev misses with a body shot.
Burns avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Mirzaev tries to land a front kick but Burns steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
The fighters circling - Mirzaev throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
It looked like Burns wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Burns throws a leg kick
and Mirzaev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Burns looks to land a combination but Mirzaev avoids it well.

Burns throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mirzaev throws a leg kick but Burns checks it.
Mirzaev keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Mirzaev tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Burns cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Burns rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mirzaev connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Burns is rocked!
Mirzaev has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Burns finds it's way round the side to connect with Mirzaev's head.
Burns slips a jab and a cross from Mirzaev.
Burns throws a sloppy head kick and Mirzaev moves out of range easily.
Burns moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Oh Burns is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Burns lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Burns is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Mirzaev just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Burns has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rasul Mirzaev!
A less than humble Rasul Mirzaev misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
