Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lanny Langley (ranked 7167 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benny Bomstaerk (ranked 7457 p4p, 0 weight class). Bomstaerk is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bang. Bomstaerk has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Benny Bomstaerk has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lanny Langley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Benny Bomstaerk!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langley drops his hands momentarily and Bomstaerk takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.


It looks like Lanny Langley has been cut.
Bomstaerk tries to clinch but Langley moves out of range.
Bomstaerk misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Langley appears to be looking for a big counter.

Langley bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bomstaerk manages to get back to half guard.
Langley content to control rather than advance.
Langley is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Bomstaerk is trying to maintain the position but Langley is very close to passing his half guard.
Langley prevents Bomstaerk from improving his position.
Bomstaerk looks winded!

Bomstaerk is trying to stand back up but Langley is controlling him
Langley lands with a punch from half guard.

Langley is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bomstaerk doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Langley.
Bomstaerk wants to get back to full guard.

Langley gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Langley changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bomstaerk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Langley is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bomstaerk has escaped the position, nice work there.

Langley thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Langley landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Langley looks up at the clock and then as Bomstaerk takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Langley smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Langley happy to just control the position for now.

Langley stands up.

Langley shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Langley showed some decent athleticism there.
Bomstaerk wants to stand back up but Langley manages to pass into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bomstaerk struggling a bit here.

Langley decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Langley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bomstaerk lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Bomstaerk throws a right and a left that both miss.

Langley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Langley stays in close to Bomstaerk's body and controls the position.

Bomstaerk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Langley is controlling him.
Langley is stalling in the full guard.
Langley seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bomstaerk for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Bomstaerk looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bomstaerk tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Langley swivels and escapes.
Bomstaerk misses with an attempted mid kick.
Langley shoots for a takedown but Bomstaerk saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Langley shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bomstaerk napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Langley working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Langley decides to stand back up.
Bomstaerk should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Langley tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bomstaerk is looking to land body kicks.

Langley rushes Bomstaerk and presses him up against the cage.
Bomstaerk wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Bomstaerk is breathing heavily.

Bomstaerk gets underhooks to prevent Langley's takedown attempt.
Langley prevents Bomstaerk from breaking the clinch.
Bomstaerk tries to circle away but Langley has him pinned against the cage.

Langley breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bomstaerk tries to sprawl but Langley drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Langley is looking for a kimura but Bomstaerk is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Langley to get the leverage.

Langley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Langley looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bomstaerk with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Langley escapes and gets back to his feet.

Bomstaerk gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Bomstaerk wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Langley manages to pass to side control.

Langley stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bomstaerk to get to his feet.
Bomstaerk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Langley's waist but Langley gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bomstaerk off to one side.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Langley scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Langley is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Langley is looking for a kimura here.

Langley decides to stand up.

Langley shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bomstaerk is trying to defend but Langley finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Langley stands up and beckons Bomstaerk to join him on the feet.
Bomstaerk walks into a left hand.
Langley shoots in but Bomstaerk avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bomstaerk throws out a counter right but Langley avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lanny Langley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Left hook, right uppercut from Bomstaerk.
Langley misses the shot to the body.
Langley keeps the fight on the outside.
Benny Bomstaerk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Langley closes the distance and pushes Bomstaerk back into the cage.
Bomstaerk prevents the takedown attempt.
Bomstaerk wants to break the clinch but can't.
Langley has Bomstaerk pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bomstaerk manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Langley pulls guard effortlessly.
Bomstaerk loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Langley is pulling down on Bomstaerk's head. It's preventing any offense from Bomstaerk, at least for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Langley has managed to clinch.
Langley changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Bomstaerk fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Langley slips a jab and a cross from Bomstaerk.
Langley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bomstaerk as he avoids it easily.
Bomstaerk is looking for the big counter here.
Bomstaerk pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Langley swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Bomstaerk throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Langley counters with a straight right hand.
Langley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bomstaerk defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lanny Langley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bomstaerk falls off balance throwing a combination
and Bomstaerk takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bomstaerk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Langley throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bomstaerk tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Langley is in Bomstaerk's guard.

Langley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bomstaerk can't keep his opponent in guard - Langley advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Langley lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Langley is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Langley escapes and gets back to his feet.

Bomstaerk tries to land a leg kick but Langley saw it coming and moves away.

Bomstaerk gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Langley stopping the sweep attempt from Bomstaerk.

Langley gets to his feet. Bomstaerk looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Bomstaerk throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Langley counters with a body kick.
Benny Bomstaerk is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Langley pushes Bomstaerk up against the cage in a clinch.

Langley pulls guard effortlessly.

Langley has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bomstaerk has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Bomstaerk is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Langley prevents Bomstaerk from breaking the clinch.

Langley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Langley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Langley keeping moving, preventing Bomstaerk from controlling successfully.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Langley holds on and takes a little breather.
Langley looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bomstaerk is one step ahead there.
Langley wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Bomstaerk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Langley is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Langley has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Bomstaerk is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Langley manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Benny Bomstaerk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lanny Langley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Langley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
