PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Otis Bowman (ranked 9127 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathias Gundersen (ranked 6026 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mathias Gundersen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Bowman takes the fight into the clinch.

Gundersen manages to pull guard.
Bowman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bowman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Gundersen wants to stand but Bowman is controlling the position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bowman tries to close the distance and clinch but Gundersen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bowman clinches up against the cage.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Bowman tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gundersen swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Gundersen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Otis Bowman has been cut.

and Gundersen counters with a nice uppercut.
Bowman fails in his attempt to clinch.
Despite the aggression on Gundersen's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Bowman throws a nice inside leg kick.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

It seemed like Gundersen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bowman darts in trying to clinch
and Gundersen counters with a stiff right hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mathias Gundersen will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Otis Bowman's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Gundersen swats away the attempt to clinch by Bowman.
Gundersen unleashes a big counter combination but Bowman bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Bowman looks to clinch
and Bowman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bowman closes the distance but Gundersen moves to the side
and Gundersen comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Bowman stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Gundersen is on him like rabid pit bull! Bowman slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mathias Gundersen!
