The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan moves into the clinch.
Novak jumps guard but Hogan stands there with Novak around his waist. Novak gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Novak fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Hogan breaks the clinch.
Hogan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Novak avoids it really well and circles away.
Novak throws a head kick that misses
so Hogan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Novak is looking to stand back up but Hogan counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Novak.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hogan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Novak feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Novak can do anything to dispel that myth.
Novak is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hogan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hogan's back!

Novak looking to control but Hogan is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
