Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cecil Banks (ranked 5808 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harky Hartens (ranked 6083 p4p, 0 weight class). Harky Hartens will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cecil Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Harky Hartens!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hartens gets a takedown into half guard.

Hartens is looking for submissions but instead, Banks has regained full guard.
Hartens wants to control from the top but Banks keeps moving.
Banks pulls Hartens in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Banks continues to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hartens fails in his attempt to clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hartens.
Banks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Banks is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hartens tries to move into full mount but can't pass Banks's legs.

Hartens goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Banks rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Hartens's guard! Nice work there by Banks!

Banks drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hartens manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Banks has Hartens in his guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Banks holds on and takes a little breather.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hartens trying to control but Banks is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Banks wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hartens looking to pass the guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Banks looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hartens wants to stand but Banks has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Banks seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Banks is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hartens trying to stand up but can't free himself from Banks's guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harky Hartens dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Banks tries to sprawl but Hartens drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Hartens thows a huge punch but Banks dodges it nicely.
Hartens wants to control but Banks is keeping him busy.
Hartens might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banks haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Banks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Banks really is a fat lump.

Hartens jabs at Banks's body.

Hartens gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hartens wants to sweep here but Banks controlling him for the moment.
Banks lands a couple of elbows.
Banks lands a couple of digs.
Harky Hartens has got the better of the ground game so far.
Banks distracts Hartens with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Banks content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hartens wants to sweep but no luck.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Hartens. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Hartens is breathing heavily.
Banks connects with a couple of short punches.

Banks not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Banks wants to stand but Hartens has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hartens has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Banks with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Banks is stalling in the full guard.

Banks lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hartens has momentary wrist control but Banks slips an elbow through the middle.
Hartens wants to improve his position but instead Banks has moved into half guard.
Banks is taking a breather. Hartens says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Banks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hartens with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Banks seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Banks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hartens with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hartens is rocked!
Well, if Banks is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hartens is still in real trouble! Can Banks finish him?

Banks lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Hartens! More strikes land and this one is all over! Banks jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
