Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David McDonald (ranked 4183 p4p, 436 weight class) and Julio Silva (ranked 9013 p4p, 681 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva fails to land the takedown.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

McDonald shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Silva napping and manages to drive through into side control!

We've been hearing good reports from McDonald's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Silva throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! McDonald escapes and throws Silva's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

It looked like McDonald wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Silva shoots in but McDonald avoids the takedown attempt easily.
