The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Onera shoots in but no luck this time.
Ruane is looking for the big counter here.

Ruane avoids the body shot from Onera.
Ruane blocks the body kick.
As Onera backs off Ruane throws a huge counter combo but Onera manages to avoid it all.
Ruane lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Onera rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ruane moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Onera fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ruane checks it well.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Onera is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Onera takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Onera seems to be working for a kimura but Ruane defends the submission attempt.

Ruane is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Onera's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Onera's back!

Ruane throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Onera was covering up waiting for the punch and Ruane finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Onera has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
