Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Per Saukkonen!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saukkonen feints and as Ustj raises his hands in defense, Saukkonen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Saukkonen wants to control from the top but Ustj keeps moving.
Ustj wants to stand and escape but Saukkonen is having none of it.

Saukkonen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Saukkonen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Saukkonen wants to stand but Ustj is controlling his posture from full guard.

Saukkonen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ustj wants to clinch.
Per Saukkonen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Saukkonen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ustj is fending him off so far but Saukkonen persists. Nope, Ustj circles away and we're back to standing.

Ustj gets the takedown into side control.
Ustj creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Saukkonen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Ustj has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Saukkonen is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ustj yanks on the arm and Saukkonen is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ustj.
