Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pieter Daan Mostert (ranked 1031 p4p, 148 weight class) and Sven Svensson (ranked 869 p4p, 128 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pieter Daan Mostert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sven Svensson!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mostert looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mostert tries for a takedown but Svensson circles away easily
and Svensson counters with a low kick, right behind Mostert 's knee.
Svensson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Mostert closes the distance and clinches up with Svensson, looking for a takedown. Mostert pushes Svensson against the cage but Svensson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pieter Daan Mostert. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Svensson scores with a leg kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mostert fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Horrible takedown attempt by Mostert or perhaps it was just good defense by Svensson, which made it look bad.
Svensson takes a swing at Mostert's ribcage but misses.

Mostert on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mostert shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Svensson counters with a nice body shot.

Svensson closes the distance and clinches.
Mostert jumps guard but Svensson stands there with Mostert around his waist. Mostert gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Mostert changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Svensson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Svensson looks to land a right hand but Mostert moved out of range.

Mostert drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Mostert working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Mostert wants to control but Svensson is keeping him busy.

Mostert goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Svensson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mostert but great work by Svensson.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Svensson tries to stand but Mostert controls the position and pulls Svensson into his guard.

Mostert is looking for a triangle but Svensson pushes his legs off easily.

Mostert has his foot on Svensson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Svensson works his way back into a safe position though.
Svensson is stalling in the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mostert looking for a sweep. Not yet Mostert, not yet.

Mostert working for a triangle but Svensson defends it easily.
Mostert trying to keep a closed guard but Svensson is proving a slippery customer.

Mostert looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mostert throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Svensson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Mostert is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Svensson is aware though and is defending well.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Svensson working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Svensson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Mostert is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Svensson is aware though and is defending well.
Svensson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Svensson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mostert has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Svensson has managed to get both his arms back between Mostert's legs - danger averted.
Svensson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Mostert throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Svensson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Svensson wants to clinch but Mostert slips to the side

and Mostert counters with a single leg into guard. Svensson didn't expect that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sven Svensson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Svensson misses with a wild body shot.
Svensson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mosterts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Mostert shoots for a takedown but Svensson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Svensson connects with a leg kick. Mostert looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Mostert tries to close the distance and clinch but Svensson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Svensson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Mostert counters with a shoot takedown. Svensson fights it but they end up in guard.

Svensson has his hands on Mostert's head, controlling the position.

Mostert throws a strike but Svensson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Mostert is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Mostert is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Svensson defends well.
Svensson wants to control from the top but Mostert keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A left lands for Svensson.
Svensson takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Svensson lands a really nice looking cross but Mostert seems unphased.

Svensson tries to counter with a clinch but Mostert shakes him off and moves away.

Svensson throws a hook but Mostert avoids it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mostert looks for a takedown but Svensson sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sven Svensson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


A left and a right from Svensson both land. Nice combination.
Mostert shoots in looking for a takedown but Svensson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mostert's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mostert shoots and misses
enabling Svensson to counter with a crisp jab.
Svensson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mostert sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Mostert looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mostert.
Svensson feints and then cracks Mostert's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mostert down.

Svensson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Mostert shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Mostert has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Svensson finds it's way round the side to connect with Mostert's head.

Mostert throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Svensson's waist but Svensson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mostert off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pieter Daan Mostert. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Svensson jabs Mostert right on the nose. Mostert blinks but takes it well.

and Svensson counters with a right hand to the body.
Svensson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mostert moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mostert appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Both fighters circling a little - Svensson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Svensson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Mostert walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Svensson scores with a jab to the jaw.
Sven Svensson seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Svensson keeps Mostert at a distance using the push kick.

Svensson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mostert's hands.


Mostert is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mostert rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Svensson counters with a leg kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Svensson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Oh Mostert is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mostert takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Svensson cracks Mostert on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Mostert falls backwards against the cage. Svensson follows up with more strikes that drop Mostert to his knees. Svensson keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Mostert! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sven Svensson!
After the fight, Sven Svensson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
