Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michail Podolski (ranked 390 p4p, 38 weight class) and Katu Partio (ranked 412 p4p, 40 weight class). Partio is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Sininen sunnuntai. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Partio throws out a leg kick but Podolski moves out of range and Partio only half commits.
Podolski's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Partio connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Podolski scrambles back to his feet.
Podolski misses with a shot to the body
and Partio counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Partio tries to score a power double leg takedown but Podolski sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Partio somewhat.

Partio is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Partio looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Podolski is fending him off so far but Partio persists. Nope, Podolski circles away and we're back to standing.

Katu Partio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Partio cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Partio lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Podolski has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Podolski and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Podolski has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Partio finds it's way round the side to connect with Podolski's head.
Partio bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Podolski's head.

Partio tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Podolski is able to avoid easily.

Podolski shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Partio eats them both and turns towards Podolski to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Partio shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Partio showed some decent athleticism there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Podolski is trying to control the action in half guard but Partio is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Podolski throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Partio stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
