Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Geraldo Reid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Shaw!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid misses with a takedown attempt - Shaw sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Reid closes the distance and clinches.

Reid pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Shaw shoots in looking for a takedown but Reid manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shaw's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Shaw shoots for a takedown but Reid saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Reid throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shaw stuffs the takedown attempt from Reid. Reid gets slowly back to his feet.
Shaw wants to counter with a clinch but Reid pushes him away.
Reid fails to land the takedown.

And Shaw tries to counter it with a takedown but Reid pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Shaw shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shaw showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Shaw is trying to control the action in half guard but Reid is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Shaw changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Reid is looking to clinch but Shaw is avoiding it.
Shaw tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Shaw has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Reid is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Shaw tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Reid just stands there and leans against the cage.

Shaw tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Reid smiles and moves away.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Reid working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Reid is trying to drag Shaw to the mat but Shaw just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Reid turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Shaw sneaks out the side door and pushes Reid away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Shaw displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reid.

Shaw shoots in for a double leg but Reid sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shaw shoots in looking for a takedown. Reid tries to sprawl out of it but Shaw keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Reid manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Reid takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Nice defenses there by Shaw.

Shaw thows a huge punch but Reid dodges it nicely.

Shaw is looking for a kimura but Reid is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shaw to get the leverage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shaw is working for a kimura here but Reid manages to reverse the position and he's now in Shaw's guard.
Reid is in close to Shaw's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Reid wants to slow Shaw down by chopping away at his legs.

Reid could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Shaw closes the distance and clinches up with Reid, looking for a takedown. Shaw pushes Reid against the cage but Reid circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Shaw wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reid keeps working.
Shaw is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Shaw is thwarting Reid's attempts to control the position.
Shaw wants to stand but Reid has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reid defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shaw.
