PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daichi Kishimoto (ranked 7949 p4p, 503 weight class) and Magyan Murko (ranked 6981 p4p, 476 weight class). Magyan Murko will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daichi Kishimoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Magyan Murko!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kishimoto gets tackled into the cage by Murko. Murko maintains the clinch.

I was talking to Kishimoto's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Murko creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Kishimoto has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Murko uses from the top position.

Murko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kishimoto has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Murko has managed to get both his arms back between Kishimoto's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Murko seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kishimoto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Murko tries to free his leg and advance position but Kishimoto is retaining full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kishimoto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Kishimoto has his foot on Murko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Murko works his way back into a safe position though.

Let's hope that Murko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Kishimoto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Murko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Murko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Murko wants to pass the guard but Kishimoto is keeping the position.

Kishimoto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Murko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Kishimoto shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Murko sprawls well. Murko wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kishimoto gets slowly back to his feet.

Kishimoto changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Murko tries to avoid it but Kishimoto manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Murko to the ground. Murko escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Magyan Murko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Murko closes the distance and pushes Kishimoto back into the cage.
Kishimoto jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Murko walks away with a smile on his face. Kishimoto gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Kishimoto has Murko pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kishimoto pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Murko tumbling to the mat - Kishimoto dives into Murko's guard.

Kishimoto is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Murko pulls Kishimoto in close to his closed guard and prevents Kishimoto from doing any damage or advancing position.

Magyan Murko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Murko feints and then cracks Kishimoto's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kishimoto down.
Murko doesn't manage to clinch there - Kishimoto circles away.

Oh Kishimoto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Murko creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Kishimoto's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Kishimoto drops to his knees and Murko pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
