Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Parker Johnston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephen Gardner!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Atkins and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gardner.
Johnston attempts a counter takedown but Gardner avoids it well and moves away.

Gardner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnston, pushing him back against the cage.
Johnston is looking to control Gardner's arms but Gardner gets an underhook and turns him. Now Johnston has his back to the cage.

Johnston gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Gardner regains guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gardner wants to stand but Johnston is controlling the position.
Johnston postures up and lands a big shot to Gardner's brow.

Johnston postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gardner has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Johnston off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Gardner is looking for the big counter here.
Gardner shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnston manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gardner's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Johnston tries to counter with a takedown but Gardner is quick to defend against it.
Parker Johnston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephen Gardner.

Johnston gets control of Gardner's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johnston will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Gardner is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

and Johnston takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Gardner shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnston tries to sprawl out of it but Gardner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnston manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Johnston attempts a counter takedown but Gardner avoids it well and moves away.

Gardner shoots for a double leg takedown but Johnston sprawls well. He's pushed Gardner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gardner changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Johnston tries to bum rush Gardner with a series of wild strikes but Gardner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Johnston defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gardner.
Johnston displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gardner.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Parker Johnston will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Johnston darts in and clinches Gardner up against the cage.
Gardner is pressed up against the cage. Johnston has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gardner down to the mat. Gardner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gardner closes the distance and clinches up with Johnston, looking for a takedown. Gardner pushes Johnston against the cage but Johnston circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Johnston drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gardner pulls his leg out and moves away.

Johnston looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Gardner has picked Johnston up and slammed him! Johnston can't keep hold of the triangle and Gardner manages to pass to side control!

Gardner bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnston's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gardner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gardner throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Johnston works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Gardner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnston has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gardner has managed to get both his arms back between Johnston's legs - danger averted.
Stephen Gardner has got the better of the ground game so far.
Gardner pushes down on Johnston's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gardner in particular looking to stall.

Well, if Gardner is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Johnston manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Gardner keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Stephen Gardner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Johnston stuffs the takedown attempt from Gardner. Gardner gets slowly back to his feet.
Gardner darts in looking for a takedown but Johnston gets double underhooks and turns Gardner into the cage.

Johnston gets tackled into the cage by Gardner. Gardner maintains the clinch.
Johnston tries to score a body lock takedown but Gardner shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Johnston throws a punch but it's blocked by Gardner.
Gardner is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Johnston is defending well for now.
Stephen Gardner seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Johnston wants to stall.
Gardner gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Johnston.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Gardner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
No joy there for Johnston, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gardner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Johnston goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gardner prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Parker Johnston. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Johnston tries to pull guard but Gardner holds him up against the cage and eventually Johnston drops back down to his feet.

Johnston wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Gardner has him pressed against the cage.
Gardner wants to get back to striking at distance but Johnston won't allow it.

Johnston wants to stall.
Johnston throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gardner blocks it with crossed arms.
Come on Gardner - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Gardner wants to break the clinch but can't.

Gardner ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Gardner no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Gardner has his hands on Johnston's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gardner lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Stephen Gardner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Gardner has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
