Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Rojas (ranked 6222 p4p, 0 weight class) and Besy Jyre (ranked 4105 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Rojas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Besy Jyre!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Lou da Vinci and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jyre fails in his attempt to clinch.

Rojas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rojas cracks Jyre with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Rojas creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jyre sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Jyre is looking to regain half guard here but Rojas keeps moving and retains side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jyre wants to get back to his feet but Rojas drags him back down.

Rojas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jyre has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jyre is looking to reverse the position.

Jyre isn't going anywhere.
Jyre is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rojas off and has taken his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jyre is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Rojas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jyre controlling the position well here. Rojas rolled but Jyre kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Jyre's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rojas on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.


It looks like Jacob Rojas has been cut.
Jyre closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rojas circles away.
Rojas changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Jyre takes a swing at Rojas's ribcage but misses.
Jyre misses with a head kick.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Rojas bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jyre's head backwards.

and Rojas counters with a stiff right hand.

Jyre clinches up with Rojas and pushes him back against the cage.
Jyre is trying to push Rojas away but Rojas has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Rojas keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jyre's efforts to push away.
Rojas lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Jyre backwards.
Jyre goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rojas prevents it.
Jacob Rojas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Besy Jyre.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rojas is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacob Rojas will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Jyre connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rojas jabs Jyre right on the nose. Jyre blinks but takes it well.

Jyre throws a low kick, looking for Rojas's leg but Rojas calmly moves out of range.
Rojas misses with a looping left.
Rojas tests Jyre's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Jyre tries to clinch but Rojas is having none of it.

Besy Jyre seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jyre tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rojas was well out of range. Poor timing from Jyre.
Jyre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rojas.

Jyre forces Rojas back against the cage and clinches.
Jyre has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rojas avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Jyre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Jacob Rojas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rojas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jyre! But no joy.

Jyre throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Rojas is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jyre shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Rojas takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Jyre sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Rojas bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!
