Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Egans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Leeroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerald Egans looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gerald Egans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bruce Leeroy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Egans throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Leeroy sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Egans shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Leeroy as he avoids it easily.
Egans misses with a two punch combination.
Gerald Egans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Egans fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Egans looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Egans misses with a takedown attempt - Leeroy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Egans tries to clinch but Leeroy is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leeroy shoots in for a takedown but Egans shows good takedown defense.

Egans throws a sloppy head kick and Leeroy moves out of range easily.

and Leeroy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Despite being in the dominant position, Bruce Leeroy just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Leeroy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Egans sprawls well initially but Leeroy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Egans has his opponent's back but Leeroy is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Egans.

and Leeroy makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Leeroy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Egans won't be happy with that.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Leeroy misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Egans.
Egans gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Leeroy counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Egans's guard now.

Egans is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Leeroy is controlling him.
Leeroy slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Egans is looking to regain half guard here but Leeroy keeps moving and retains side control.

Egans takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Leeroy is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

The referee asks Leeroy politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Leeroy prefers to stall for the moment though.

Leeroy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bruce Leeroy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Leeroy is pushing down on Egans's leg trying to pass to half guard. Egans is fighting to maintain full guard but Leeroy has managed to sneak the leg through.

Leeroy is looking to advance position but Egans won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Egans wants to get back to his feet.
Leeroy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Egans's head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Egans actively working from the bottom here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Leeroy looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Let's hope that Leeroy has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Leeroy is looking to work some ground and pound but Egans has wrist control.
Bruce Leeroy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Leeroy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Egans wants to sweep here but Leeroy controlling him for the moment.

Well Leeroy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
