Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Gosling!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Berger closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Berger lands in his opponent's guard.

Gosling has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Berger is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Gosling has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Gosling has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Berger uses from the top position.

Gosling is working an open guard so Berger takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Berger gets caught flat footed, as Gosling shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Berger is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gosling is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Berger moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Gosling wants to control from the top but Berger keeps moving.
Berger looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Gosling looking to sit in guard and control but Berger gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Berger gets to his feet - Gosling follows without any prompting.

Gosling tries to keep at a distance but Berger has taken the fight into the clinch.
Berger lands with a left to the head.
Berger tries to land a knee to the head but Gosling blocks with his arms.

Berger jumps into guard, dragging Gosling to the mat.
Berger is pulling down on Gosling's head to control his posture.

Gosling stands up and waves to Berger to follow him.

Gosling drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Berger lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Berger stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Gosling feints and as Berger raises his hands in defense, Gosling changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Berger has his feet on Gosling's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Berger takes the fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Gosling misses with a leg kick
and Berger counters with a left and a right that stings Gosling.

Gosling moves into range and clinches up with Berger.
Berger stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Berger working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gosling doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gosling manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Berger has control of Gosling's left arm, preventing Gosling from doing any damage.

Gosling got a little sloppy there for a moment and Berger has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gosling has managed to get both his arms back between Berger's legs - danger averted.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Gosling working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joseph Berger will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Gosling shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Berger manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Gosling throws a series of punches but Berger avoids them all with ease.
Berger appears to be looking for a big counter.

Berger closes the distance and pushes Gosling back into the cage.

Berger really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Berger has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Gosling clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Berger wants to clinch up but Gosling keeps it at a distance.

Berger gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Berger tightens his grip and picks Gosling up, before dumping him to the ground. Gosling manages to land in guard.
Gosling seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Gosling scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Gosling looks to land a body kick but Berger moved away.

Berger instigates a clinch.

Berger has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joseph Berger.
Well Berger has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
