Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Piotr Smietana (ranked 2826 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Meadows (ranked 22248 p4p, 0 weight class). Smietana comes into the arena with I Can't Stop - By: Flux Pavilion blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smietana uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Meadows has time to react.
Meadows takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Meadows lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Smietana misses with the combination.
Smietana tries to bum rush Meadows with a series of wild strikes but Meadows uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Meadows is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Meadows tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Smietana manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Meadows can't find room to land a body shot as Smietana controls the action.

An uppercut to the body lands inside from Meadows.

Meadows is fighting off a takedown attempt but Smietana is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Meadows to the mat. Meadows regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Smietana is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at LOD: Scrap Squad that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Meadows can do anything to dispel that myth.
Meadows tries to hold on but Smietana pushes him away.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Meadows is trying desperately to improve position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smietana has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Smietana postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Meadows in real trouble here! The ref calls for Meadows to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

A very excited looking Piotr Smietana rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
