The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcilazo shoots and misses
and Pond counters with a right hand to the body.

Pond manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Garcilazo on his heels. He'll look to pass Garcilazo's guard now, I'm sure.
Pond wants to stand but Garcilazo has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Pond really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garcilazo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like Daniel Garcilazo has been cut.
Garcilazo tries for a takedown but Pond circles away easily
and Pond counters with a nice body shot.
Garcilazo goes for a double leg but Pond avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pond continues to drive forward.

Pond will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Garcilazo up against the cage.
Garcilazo is looking to control Pond's arms but Pond gets an underhook and turns him. Now Garcilazo has his back to the cage.

Garcilazo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Pond shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pond showed some decent athleticism there.
Garcilazo is controlling Pond's trapped leg to prevent Pond from advancing to side control.
Garcilazo flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Pond wants to control but Garcilazo is keeping him busy.
Pond working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Pond lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pond closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Pond tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Pond is landing with some decent strikes but Garcilazo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Pond is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Garcilazo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
