Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aaron Hodges!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tristan Degas!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Degas misses with a combination

and Hodges counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hodges.
Hodges postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Degas can do anything to dispel that myth.

Degas's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Degas wants to hold on but Hodges pushes him away.

Degas tries to lock up and control but Hodges gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Degas sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Hodges is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Degas has managed to free his arm - good work.
Degas is trying to maintain the position but Hodges is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

You can see the frustration on Hodges's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hodges is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Degas asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Tristan Degas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Degas leaves Hodges with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Degas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hodges has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Degas has managed to get both his arms back between Hodges's legs - danger averted.

Hodges has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Degas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Degas makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Degas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Aaron Hodges overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Degas lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Degas is trying to control the action in half guard but Hodges is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Hodges is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Degas pulls his head out easily.

I think Degas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
