Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bob Goblin (ranked 2646 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cajetan Shashi (ranked 5241 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Goblin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cajetan Shashi!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goblin throws a sloppy head kick and Shashi moves out of range easily.
Bob Goblin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Goblin scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Shashi throws an overhand right that lands on Goblin's shoulder, as Goblin tries to avoid the shot.
Goblin misses with a series of wild punches.
Shashi swings for the body but Goblin moves out of range.
Goblin was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Shashi slips a straight right by Goblin.
Goblin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shashi.

Shashi rushes Goblin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Shashi is looking to take this one to the mat.

Goblin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Goblin lands a nice shot that snaps Shashi's head back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shashi misses with a body shot.
Goblin wants to clinch up but Shashi keeps it at a distance.
Shashi takes a jab right on the kisser.
Goblin digs a good body shot into Shashi's ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Goblin closes the distance and pushes Shashi back into the cage.
Goblin gets underhooks to prevent Shashi's takedown attempt.

Shashi tries for a takedown. No joy.
Bob Goblin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cajetan Shashi.
Shashi misses with some punches.
Shashi tries to score a body lock takedown but Goblin shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Goblin wants to take the fight to the mat but Shashi manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Shashi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Goblin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Shashi did well to prevent Goblin getting side control.

Goblin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Goblin wants to work for an arm triangle but Shashi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shashi wants to control but Goblin is keeping busy.

Goblin is working for a submission of some sort.
Shashi has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Jako Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Shashi tries to get to full guard but Goblin has control of the leg.

Goblin is looking for a kimura but Shashi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Goblin to get the leverage.
Shashi wants to improve his position but Goblin is controlling well.
Shashi on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Goblin wants to take a breather but Shashi is having none of it.

Goblin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Goblin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shashi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Goblin.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Shashi slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Shashi wants to sweep but no luck.
Goblin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Goblin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shashi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Goblin has managed to get both his arms back between Shashi's legs - danger averted.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shashi is on top in guard.


Shashi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Goblin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Goblin has escaped and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Goblin throws a good cross that connects.

Goblin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Shashi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Shashi wants to get back to his feet but Goblin is dominant here and he's now got Shashi's back!

Goblin is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Shashi knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Shashi for a finish.

Goblin looking to break Shashi's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Shashi remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Goblin will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Bob Goblin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Goblin connects with a big shot to the side of Shashi's head.
Shashi wants to escape the position.
Goblin lands with a hammerfist to the side of Shashi's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Goblin controlling the position well here. Shashi rolled but Goblin kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Shashi is having to fend off submission attempts from Goblin, who is looking to sink in the choke. Goblin doesn't have the hooks in though and Shashi manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

Goblin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shashi is aware though and is defending well.

Goblin has a closed guard, preventing Shashi from standing up.
Shashi tries to free his leg and advance position but Goblin is retaining full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Goblin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Goblin takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Shashi shoots in but Goblin avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Goblin moves into the clinch.

Shashi ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shashi no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Goblin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Goblin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bob Goblin will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Goblin just misses with a punch to the body.
Shashi is trying to counter with his kicks.

Shashi takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Shashi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Goblin is fending him off so far but Shashi persists. Nope, Goblin circles away and we're back to standing.
Goblin ducks under a wild hook from Shashi.
Goblin looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Shashi lands a nice hook to Goblin's body. Goblin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Shashi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Goblin counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Goblin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Shashi down.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Goblin moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Shashi wants to get back to his feet.

Goblin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Shashi some visible discomfort.
Shashi is looking to regain half guard here but Goblin keeps moving and retains side control.

Goblin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shashi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Shashi is looking for a sweep.
Shashi sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Goblin is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Bob Goblin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Goblin lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Shashi hang on?

Shashi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Goblin is working away from the top position though.
Goblin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Cajetan Shashi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Shashi wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Goblin wants to control but Shashi is keeping him busy.
