Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Asa Sargent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Al Hangman!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hangman looks to score with a jab to the body but Sargent is just out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sargent enables Hangman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sargent manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hangman wants to control from the top but Sargent keeps moving.
Hangman content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hangman trying to control the position from guard on top but Sargent is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hangman missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sargent looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Sargent can't keep his opponent in guard - Hangman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Sargent really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sargent is looking for a sweep. Hangman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hangman with the ground and pound but Sargent uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Hangman wants to stand but Sargent has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hangman loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Sargent is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hangman defends well.

Hangman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sargent can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Hangman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hangman showed some decent athleticism there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sargent controlling the position well.
Sargent has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hangman is working away from the top position though.
Al Hangman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hangman is stalling here. Sargent is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hangman seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Sargent has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Hangman can't do much from the bottom here.
Sargent will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hangman looks to move to half guard but instead Sargent has passed into mount! Damn!

Hangman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Sargent trying to control but Hangman is having none of it.
Hangman tries to lock up and control but Sargent gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hangman is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Sargent controlling the position easily from mount.
Sargent's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sargent landing strikes from the mount.
Hangman is trying desperately to improve position.
Sargent wants to control the pace but Hangman is squirming around nicely.
Hangman is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Hangman fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sargent to the ground. Hangman is now in Sargent's guard.
Hangman looking to sit in guard and control but Sargent gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hangman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sargent is refusing to be controlled, as Hangman sits in half guard.

Sargent is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sargent wants to control but Hangman is keeping busy.

Hangman misses with a head shot. Sargent uses the momentum to regain guard.
Hangman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sargent swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sargent trying to keep a closed guard but Hangman is proving a slippery customer.
Hangman tries to free his leg and advance position but Sargent is retaining full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hangman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sargent is pulling down on Hangman's head to control his posture.
Sargent looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hangman puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Hangman is pressing down on Sargent's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sargent is holding on for now.
It looks like Hangman is going to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hangman lands with a punch from half guard.

Hangman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sargent does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hangman tries a head kick but it misses.
Sargent went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Hangman gets the takedown into side control.
Hangman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sargent gets back to half guard.
Well, if Hangman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well Hangman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
