PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Truman Madden (ranked 8885 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tristan Degas (ranked 3647 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Truman Madden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tristan Degas!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Madden misses the target.

Degas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Madden tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Degas is in Madden's guard.

Madden manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Degas avoiding damage as Madden throws knees to the body.
Madden can't break the clinch.
Madden tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Degas gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Madden is looking to control Degas's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Madden avoid being mounted?
Madden could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Madden gets back to full guard.
Degas looks winded!
Madden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Madden looking for a guillotine here but Degas defends easily.
Degas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Degas in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Madden wants to sweep here but Degas controlling him for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Madden manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Degas manages to get himself to full guard.

Degas throws his legs up looking for a submission but Madden uses it to pass to side control.

Madden is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Degas's shoulder. That is not cool.
Madden tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Madden in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Madden is looking to take a break and control but Degas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
A lull in the action here as Madden stalls from top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Madden stalks Degas and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Degas's face. Degas staggers backwards, shaken.

Degas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Degas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Degas trying to control the action but Madden is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Madden is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Degas asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Truman Madden dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Madden wants to stand and escape but Degas is having none of it.
Madden might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Degas is fighting to break Madden's control of his arms but Madden is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Madden not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Degas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Madden escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Degas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Madden can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Degas controls the pace.
Degas is breathing heavily.

Madden has Degas pulled in close to control his posture.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Degas darts in and clinches Madden up against the cage.
Madden fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Madden is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Degas is defending well for now.

Degas jumps guard.
Degas wants to get back to his feet but Madden is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Madden is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Madden loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Degas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Madden's guard.

Truman Madden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Madden lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Madden prevents Degas from getting back to his feet.
Madden tries to stand but Degas is controlling from the bottom.
Madden showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Madden wants to stand but Degas has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Degas wants to improve his position but instead Madden has moved into half guard.
Madden wants to pass to mount but Degas is defending the position.
Madden wants to control but Degas is keeping him busy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Degas actively working from the bottom here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tristan Degas will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Degas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Madden napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Madden tries to buck Degas off but Degas is having none of it.
Degas tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Degas wants to stand but Madden is controlling his arm.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Madden is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Degas off and has taken his back!
Madden has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Degas's body.
Madden lands a shot to the body.
Degas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Madden controlling the position well here. Degas rolled but Madden kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Madden has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Degas trying to control the hands but Madden won't let him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Madden throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Degas!
Degas trying to control the action but Madden just sinks the hooks in.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Madden is punishing Degas with some ground and pound.
Madden wants to control but Degas is keeping busy.
Madden really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Degas.

And that's the end of the fight!
Truman Madden showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Madden has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
