Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ibrahim Abai (ranked 2943 p4p, 372 weight class) and Sergio Garcia (ranked 3298 p4p, 410 weight class). Garcia is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ludacris - Beast Mode. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ibrahim Abai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sergio Garcia!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abai decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Garcia controlling the position well.
Abai lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Garcia trying to control from the bottom.
The fighters are battling for position here. Garcia manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Garcia is adopting a defensive guard.
Abai lands a couple of elbows.
Abai throwing strikes from guard but Garcia blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abai working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Garcia is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Garcia is trying to control the action in half guard but Abai is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abai tries to kick Garcia off in order to stand up. Garcia Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Garcia sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Abai is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Garcia postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Abai's coaches at Russian Bears Training Center have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Garcia takes a little break here. Abai wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Garcia manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Abai fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Garcia blocks an elbow strike from Abai.

Garcia manages to break the clinch.
Abai shoots in but no luck this time.
Garcia drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Abai defends it well.
Abai tries to clinch but Garcia moves out of range.
Abai moves in looking to clinch but Garcia pushes him off.
Garcia throws a nice outside leg kick.
Garcia lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Abai backs up against the cage.

Abai looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Abai has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Garcia finds it's way round the side to connect with Abai's head.
Garcia connects with a jab.
Abai dives in and grabs Garcia's left leg, looking for a takedown. Garcia pushes down on Abai's head and hops out.
Abai wants to clinch up but Garcia keeps it at a distance.
Garcia feints the counter takedown.
Abai doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Garcia counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Abai on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Garcia manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Abai on his heels. He'll look to pass Abai's guard now, I'm sure.

Abai pushes Garcia off and scrambles back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Garcia dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Abai is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Garcia presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Abai closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Garcia throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Garcia lands with a thumping leg kick.

Garcia looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Abai!
Abai wants to get back to his feet but Garcia drags him back down.

Garcia is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Abai will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Garcia advances nicely into full mount.
Abai is in a horrible position here. Garcia smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Garcia can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Abai is looking to escape.

Garcia stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Abai will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Garcia is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Abai's half guard.

Abai kicks off Garcia and gets to his feet.
Abai tries to clinch there but Garcia circles away.
A jab from Garcia does it's job there.

A little jabbing left from Garcia on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

and Garcia counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Abai shoots in and gets a takedown into Garcia's guard.

Garcia uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Abai moves into range and clinches up with Garcia.
Garcia tries to break free but Abai pushes him back against the cage.
Abai has Garcia pressed against the cage, preventing Garcia from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Garcia has had enough of the clinch but Abai keeps him there for the moment.
Garcia lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Garcia pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Garcia works over Abai's head and body with a nice combination.


Abai is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Garcia scores with the left hand. Abai knows he should have avoided that one.
Oh Abai is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
It's a brutal combination of punches from Garcia! Abai is backing up but he can't get away as Garcia lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Abai and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sergio Garcia!
