Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Daryl Mathews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Donnie Donners!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Atkins and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Donners has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mathews tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Donners smiles and moves away.

Mathews gets caught flat footed, as Donners shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Donners sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mathews's guard.
Donners not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Donners stalling.
Mathews wants to control but Donners is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mathews preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Donners missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Donners slows the pace down in half guard.
Mathews keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Donners tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mathews controls his leg.
Donners prevents Mathews from improving his position.

Donners seems to be working for a kimura but Mathews defends the submission attempt.

Mathews wants to control but Donners is keeping busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mathews is looking to control Donners's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mathews avoid being mounted?
Donners not doing much here.

Mathews looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Mathews tries to roll over but Donners keeps him under control.
Donners slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mathews misses with a double jab
and Donners counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Mathews tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Donners paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Donners looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Donners decides to return to a standing position.

Donners changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mathews looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Donners content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The strikes coming from Donners are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Donners decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mathews to his feet.
Mathews shoots in and drives through. Donners sprawls well.

Mathews clinches up with Donners and pushes him back against the cage.

Donners ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Donners no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Donners has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Mathews has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Donners jumps into guard, dragging Mathews to the mat.
Mathews loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mathews is fighting to break Donners's control of his arms but Donners is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Donners tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mathews throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Donners works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mathews postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mathews accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mathews is breathing heavily.
Mathews wants to stand and escape but instead Donners has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donnie Donners dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Donners shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mathews napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mathews throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Mathews wants to clinch up but Donners keeps it at a distance.
Donners scoring well with a low kick there.
Donners scores with a push kick.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Donners. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Donners lands a big head kick that sends Mathews tumbling to the mat! Donners takes a step backwards and waves Mathews back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Daryl Mathews has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Donners rushes Mathews and presses him up against the cage.
Oh Mathews is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Donners pulls guard.
Donners seems keen to control Mathews's posture.
Donners trying to strike off his back.
Mathews wants to stand but Donners is controlling his posture from full guard.

Donners is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mathews is aware though and is defending well.
Donners lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Donners passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Donners is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mathews has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mathews seems to have got his legs back now.

Mathews pushes Donners away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Donners gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Donners decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mathews to his feet.

Donners closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mathews quickly recovers to half guard.

Mathews manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Donners keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Mathews has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Donners is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Donners manages to break the clinch.
Mathews throws a nice looking combination but Donners bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Donners moves into range and clinches up with Mathews.

Donners's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mathews has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Donners is on him like a limpet, forcing Mathews back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mathews is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Donners keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Donners tries to pass to full mount but Mathews defends it.

Donners has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Donners not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Donners drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Donners jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Donners stands up from Mathews's guard - Donners perhaps looking for a knockout.

Donners closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mathews to the mat! Mathews manages to get full guard.
Mathews is pulling down on Donners's head to control his posture.
Donners is pushing down on Mathews's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mathews is fighting to maintain full guard but Donners has managed to sneak the leg through.

Donners is taking a breather. Mathews says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Donners bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Donners has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Mathews is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Donners is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

I really don't envy Mathews right now.

Donners has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mathews has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Donners really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Mathews.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Donners has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
