PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Death Soul (ranked 6225 p4p, 0 weight class) and KingBooda Darapper (ranked 6091 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Death Soul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, KingBooda Darapper!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soul connects with a solid leg kick.

Darapper has closed the distance and engaged Soul in a clinch.
Darapper prevents Soul from breaking the clinch.

Soul breaks from the clinch.
Darapper lands a jab to the nose.
Soul throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Soul fails with a takedown attempt.
Darapper shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Soul counters with a series of strikes. Darapper will be more careful next time no doubt.
Darapper changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soul tries to avoid it but Darapper manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soul to the ground. Soul escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Darapper misses with a takedown
and Darapper takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Death Soul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of KingBooda Darapper.

Soul moves into range and clinches up with Darapper.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Darapper has hold of one of Soul's legs. Soul is fighting the takedown attempt but Darapper gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Soul has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Darapper off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Soul stuffs the takedown attempt from Darapper. Darapper gets slowly back to his feet.
Soul stuffs the takedown.
Soul drops down looking for a counter takedown but Darapper sprawls and moves away.
Darapper looks winded!
Horrible takedown attempt by Soul or perhaps it was just good defense by Darapper, which made it look bad.
Darapper wants to counter with a clinch but Soul pushes him away.
Soul changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Darapper tries to avoid it but Soul manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Darapper to the ground. Darapper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Soul shoots in for a takedown but Darapper shows good takedown defense.
Darapper tries to score a power double leg takedown but Soul sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Darapper somewhat.
Darapper fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Soul manages to avoid it.
Darapper throws a head kick that misses
and Soul counters with a stiff right hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Soul's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Darapper gets tackled into the cage by Soul. Soul maintains the clinch.
Darapper gets underhooks to prevent Soul's takedown attempt.
Soul has Darapper pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Darapper manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Soul pulls Darapper into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Soul tries to strike from the bottom.
Darapper is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Soul working for a triangle but Darapper defends it easily.
Darapper engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Darapper trying to control but Soul is working from the bottom.
Soul might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Soul tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Soul keeping moving, preventing Darapper from controlling successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Soul is defended easily by Darapper.
Soul takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Darapper throws a nice looking combination but Soul bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Soul scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Soul rushes Darapper and presses him up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Death Soul dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Darapper scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Darapper wants to take a breather but Soul is having none of it.

Soul has one foot on Darapper's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Soul defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Darapper.
Soul throws a big counter combination but Darapper scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Soul shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Darapper as he jumps to the side.

Soul shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Darapper pinned against the cage. Darapper gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Death Soul. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Darapper shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Soul as he avoids it easily.

and Darapper counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Soul!

Soul bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Darapper looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Soul is fending him off so far but Darapper persists. Nope, Soul circles away and we're back to standing.
Soul goes for a double leg but Darapper avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Darapper continues to drive forward.

Soul has managed to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Darapper can't find room to land a body shot as Soul controls the action.
Soul is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Darapper can do to turn this around?
Soul tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Soul has Darapper pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Darapper manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Darapper ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Darapper no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Darapper wants to control the position but Soul says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Darapper wants to sweep but Soul has passed to side control!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Soul thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Darapper is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Soul has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Soul content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Soul is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Darapper knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

As Soul backs off Darapper throws a huge counter combo but Soul manages to avoid it all.
Soul looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Death Soul. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Soul escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A nice combination there by Soul.
Soul misses with a takedown
and Darapper counters with a straight right hand.

Soul fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Darapper, pushing him back against the cage.
Soul is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Darapper is defending well.
Darapper tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Soul just stands there and leans against the cage.
Darapper looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Darapper is trying to force a seperation but Soul has the dominant position.
Darapper has had enough of the clinch but Soul keeps him there for the moment.
Darapper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Soul keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Darapper's efforts to push away.
Soul has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Darapper avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Darapper wants to break free but Soul has control.

Soul pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Soul closes the distance and clinches.
Soul is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Soul lands a nice uppercut.

Darapper decides to pull guard.

Soul controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Soul decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Soul fails with a takedown attempt.
Darapper swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Darapper shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Soul's guard.

Soul manages to escape and get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Death Soul showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Soul has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
