Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Hiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendon Martindale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hiner comes to the cage accompanied by you always believed. Martindale has chosen Who Am I as his entrance music. Kendon Martindale has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Doug Hiner's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doug Hiner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kendon Martindale!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Hiner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hiner misses with a head kick.

Hiner feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Martindale manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hiner is in all sorts of trouble here.

Martindale wants to finish this one by submission but Hiner is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Martindale.

Martindale moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hiner has worked his arm free - good work by Hiner!

Martindale wants to control but Hiner is keeping him busy.

Hiner can't do much from the bottom here.

Hiner on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hiner tries to get out of the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hiner stops Martindale from passing to mount.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hiner misses with a few strikes there.
Hiner is looking to clinch but Martindale is avoiding it.

Martindale gets caught flat footed, as Hiner shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Martindale pulls Hiner in close to prevent any damage.
Martindale is trying to control the position but Hiner postures up.

Martindale has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hiner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Martindale looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hiner has picked Martindale up and slammed him! Martindale can't keep hold of the triangle and Hiner manages to pass to side control!

Hiner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hiner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Martindale is refusing to be controlled, as Hiner sits in half guard.
Martindale makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Martindale.
Hiner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Martindale is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Martindale controls Hiner momentarily but Hiner frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hiner controlling from the top position.
Hiner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Martindale swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hiner closes the distance and clinches up with Martindale, looking for a takedown. Hiner pushes Martindale against the cage but Martindale circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Hiner counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Martindale's guard now.
Martindale wants to sweep here but Hiner controlling him for the moment.

Hiner tries to free his leg and advance position but Martindale is retaining full guard.
Martindale controls Hiner momentarily but Hiner frees himself.

Hiner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Martindale gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Martindale's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

so Hiner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hiner wants to control from the top but Martindale keeps moving.

Martindale throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Martindale is working an open guard so Hiner takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Hiner lands with a kick to the temple. Martindale shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Hiner tries to clinch but Martindale moves out of range.
Hiner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hiner shoots in but no luck this time.
Martindale tries for a takedown but Hiner circles away easily
and Hiner counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Doug Hiner dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Hiner is looking to take a break and control but Martindale is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Martindale wants to get back to his feet.

Hiner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Martindale is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Martindale wants to hold on but Hiner pushes him away.

Hiner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Martindale on the ground.
Martindale tries to reverse the position but Hiner maintains control.

Hiner has control of Martindale's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Martindale regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hiner throws some wild stikes that Martindale manages to avoid easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Martindale is in a horrible position here. Hiner smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hiner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
