PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maciej Adamek (ranked 5873 p4p, 489 weight class) and Devon Laz (ranked 5640 p4p, 477 weight class). Adamek comes to the cage accompanied by #COHF. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maciej Adamek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Devon Laz!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laz staying out of range there.

Adamek clinches up against the cage.
Adamek tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Laz just stands there and leans against the cage.
Adamek tries to score a body lock takedown but Laz shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Adamek breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Laz misses with a series of wild punches.

Adamek fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Laz to the ground. Adamek is now in Laz's guard.
Adamek wants to control from the top but Laz keeps moving.
Laz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Laz passes to full mount!

Adamek tries to hold on but Laz pushes him away.
Laz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adamek is trying desperately to improve position.

Laz tries to control but Adamek wriggling away.
Adamek bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Adamek advances to half guard.

Adamek is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Adamek is looking to take a break and control but Laz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Laz slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Laz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Adamek paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Adamek decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Adamek is looking to stall here but Laz recovers full guard.
Adamek tries to free his leg and advance position but Laz is retaining full guard.

Adamek postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Laz is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Adamek, into his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adamek is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Adamek escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Laz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Adamek had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Laz defends it easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Adamek is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Laz dives into side control.
Laz wants to control but Adamek is keeping him busy.

Laz content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Laz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Adamek keeps working.
Laz is staying tight to Adamek's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Laz stands up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Adamek feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Lazs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Nice takedown defense from Adamek. No joy for Laz on that attempt.
Laz attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Adamek gets a clinch.

Adamek throws a head kick but Laz moves out of range.
Laz is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Laz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Adamek to the ground. Laz is now in Adamek's guard.
Laz is breathing heavily.
Laz stops Adamek from standing up.
Adamek looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Devon Laz will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Adamek's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Adamek darts in and clinches Laz up against the cage.
Adamek can't get the takedown.
Adamek is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Laz gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Adamek manages to break the clinch.
Laz takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Adamek throws a body kick that misses

and Laz counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Laz controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Devon Laz has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Adamek has control of Laz's left arm, preventing Laz from doing any damage.
Laz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Adamek doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Adamek has an active guard here but Laz has managed to pass into half guard.
Laz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Laz stops Adamek from getting back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Adamek lands a leg kick that knocks Laz off balance momentarily.

Laz tries to keep at a distance but Adamek has taken the fight into the clinch.

Devon Laz is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Adamek fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Laz, pushing him back against the cage.

Adamek pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Laz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Adamek circles away quickly and effectively.
Laz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Maciej Adamek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Adamek tries a head kick but it misses.
No joy there for Laz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Adamek went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Laz fails with a takedown attempt.
Laz throws a right and a left that Adamek avoids nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Laz.
Laz slaps away a takedown attempt from Adamek, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maciej Adamek. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Adamek rushes Laz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Adamek changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Laz fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Laz is pressed up against the cage. Adamek has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Laz down to the mat. Laz avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Maciej Adamek has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Laz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

I would just about give that final round to Devon Laz.
I've got Laz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
