Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jerome Sosa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kuba Kowalski!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sosa looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kowalski looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Sosa wants to stand but Kowalski is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA St Petersburg inform us that Kowalski has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Kowalski throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sosa was covering up waiting for the punch and Kowalski finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sosa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kowalski is trying to escape the position but Sosa is controlling the position.

Sosa decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Sosa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Kowalski defends well and Sosa ends up having to push Kowalski into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Sosa feints and as Kowalski raises his hands in defense, Sosa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sosa is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Kowalski has hold of one of Sosa's legs. Sosa is fighting the takedown attempt but Kowalski gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sosa won't allow Kowalski to pass to mount.

Kowalski is looking to take a break and control but Sosa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Kuba Kowalski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jerome Sosa is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kowalski with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sosa to score with a decent uppercut.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jerome Sosa.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sosa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
