Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Guidry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fabian Forlan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guidry comes into the arena with Du Hast blaring out of the sound system. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ronnie Guidry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fabian Forlan!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guidry chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Forlan can pounce on him.

Guidry feints and as Forlan raises his hands in defense, Guidry changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Guidry slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Forlan has his foot on Guidry's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Guidry works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Guidry thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Guidry trying to control but Forlan is working from the bottom.
Guidry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Forlan is trying to keep Guidry in close.
Forlan wants to get back to his feet but Guidry is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Forlan tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Forlan is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Guidry dives into side control.
Guidry controlling the position from side mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Forlan can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Guidry looks for a takedown but Forlan sprawls well.
Forlan has his takedown stuffed

and Guidry counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Forlan is defending against the submission attempts here by Guidry.
Forlan wants to improve his position but Guidry is controlling well.

Guidry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Forlan keeps working.
Forlan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guidry. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Guidry is breathing heavily.
Guidry stops Forlan from getting back to his feet.
Forlan is looking to control Guidry's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Forlan avoid being mounted?

Guidry is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Forlan trying to control from the bottom.

Forlan won't allow Guidry to pass to mount.
Forlan preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Guidry wants to free his trapped foot but Forlan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Guidry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Forlan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Forlan.
Forlan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Guidry won't allow Forlan to sweep him here.

Forlan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Guidry looking to pass the guard.
Forlan keeping moving, preventing Guidry from controlling successfully.
Forlan controls Guidry momentarily but Guidry frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Guidry steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Forlan. That one must have hurt.
Forlan doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Guidry counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Forlan's guard now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ronnie Guidry dominated that round.
That's time! Guidry's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Forlan tries to clinch up

and Guidry counters with a nice double leg into side control. Forlan won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guidry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Forlan keeps working.

Guidry tries for a kimura but Forlan is defending well.
Guidry tries to advance to mount but Forlan denies him.
Forlan is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Guidry is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Forlan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Forlan tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Forlan struggling a bit here.
Forlan wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Forlan pushes Guidry away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Guidry gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Forlan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Guidry moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Forlan moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Forlan lands a two punch combo.

Forlan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Forlan lands in his opponent's guard.
Forlan wanted to stand there but Guidry had control of the position.
Guidry trying to keep a closed guard but Forlan is proving a slippery customer.

Guidry looking for a guillotine here but Forlan defends easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Forlan tries to stand but Guidry is controlling from the bottom.
Guidry looking to hit a scissor sweep but Forlan is one step ahead there.
Forlan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Forlan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Forlan trying to control the position from guard on top but Guidry is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Forlan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Guidry shoots and misses

so Forlan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Guidry looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Forlan trying to control but Guidry is working from the bottom.

Forlan has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Guidry to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Forlan is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Guidry pulls down on the head and he's put Forlan to sleep! This one is all over!
