Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Willy Whitney (ranked 6016 p4p, 0 weight class) and Punk Abbestia (ranked 3932 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Willy Whitney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Punk Abbestia!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbestia fails with an attempt to clinch.

Abbestia drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Abbestia slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Whitney is looking to stand up but Abbestia isn't so interested in that idea.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Abbestia's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abbestia tries to stand but Whitney is controlling from the bottom.
Abbestia stops Whitney from standing up.
Abbestia is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Whitney keeping full guard, as Abbestia tries to pass.
Whitney wants to stand and escape but Abbestia is having none of it.

Whitney looking for a sweep. Not yet Whitney, not yet.
Whitney is trying to control the position but Abbestia postures up.
Abbestia is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Abbestia decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Abbestia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Whitney throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Whitney is on top in guard.

Abbestia wants to sweep here but Whitney controlling him for the moment.
Abbestia wants to stand and escape but Whitney is having none of it.

Whitney distracts Abbestia with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Whitney won't allow Abbestia to get back to his feet.
Whitney is looking to work some ground and pound but Abbestia has wrist control.

Whitney thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Abbestia seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Abbestia wants to get back to his feet but Whitney is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Whitney drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Whitney jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Whitney postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Whitney with a flurry of punches that miss.
Abbestia is pulling down on Whitney's head. It's preventing any offense from Whitney, at least for the moment.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Abbestia drives through with a takedown into guard.
Abbestia postures up.
Abbestia sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Abbestia missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Whitney is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Whitney wants to get back to his feet but Abbestia is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Whitney is looking to stand back up but Abbestia counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Whitney.
Abbestia thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Whitney's head.
Abbestia passes the guard and advances to mount!

Abbestia pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Whitney wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Whitney is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Abbestia controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Punk Abbestia dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Abbestia forces Whitney back against the cage and clinches.
Whitney stalling against the cage.
Whitney jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Abbestia walks away with a smile on his face. Whitney gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Whitney gets caught flat footed, as Abbestia shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Whitney wriggles free and stands up.

Abbestia shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Whitney is trying to defend but Abbestia finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Punk Abbestia has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Abbestia stops Whitney from getting back to his feet.

Abbestia lands strikes from half guard.
Still in half guard, Abbestia seems content to control.
Whitney works his way to full guard. Good work.
Abbestia looking to pass the guard.
Whitney is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Abbestia gets to his feet - Whitney follows without any prompting.

Abbestia closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Whitney pushes Abbestia off and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Whitney misses with a few strikes there.

Abbestia throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Abbestia connects with a jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Abbestia closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Whitney quickly recovers to half guard.
Whitney is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Whitney tries to kick Abbestia off but Abbestia keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Whitney wants to improve his position but Abbestia is controlling well.

Abbestia gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Abbestia lands a head kick!
Punk Abbestia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abbestia doesn't manage to clinch there - Whitney circles away.
Whitney appears to be looking for a big counter.
Abbestia dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Abbestia fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Whitney to the ground. Abbestia is now in Whitney's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whitney wants to stand up but Abbestia is controlling him.
Abbestia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Whitney swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Abbestia prevents Whitney from getting back to his feet.
Abbestia is stalling in the full guard.
Whitney is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Abbestia dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on Whitney's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Whitney wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Abbestia has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Punk Abbestia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Whitney's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Abbestia throws a head kick that misses.
Whitney seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Abbestia shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Whitney's guard.
Abbestia trying to control but Whitney is working from the bottom.
Whitney wants to stand and escape but Abbestia is having none of it.
Whitney keeping moving, preventing Abbestia from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Abbestia takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Whitney throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
As Whitney backs off Abbestia throws a huge counter combo but Whitney manages to avoid it all.

Abbestia has taken the fight to the clinch.
Whitney tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Whitney trying to control the position but instead, Abbestia has worked for underhooks and has pushed Whitney into the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Whitney takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Whitney wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Whitney tries for a takedown but Abbestia manages to get underhooks.

Whitney wants to get back to his feet but Abbestia is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Abbestia slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Abbestia stands up from Whitney's guard - Abbestia perhaps looking for a knockout.
Abbestia throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
A quick step to the side and Whitney tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Abbestia closes the distance and clinches.
Whitney jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Abbestia walks away with a smile on his face. Whitney gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Willy Whitney. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Abbestia wants to clinch.

Abbestia closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Whitney did well to prevent Abbestia getting side control.

Abbestia moves nicely into side control.
Whitney is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Whitney takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Whitney tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Abbestia easily slips into full mount!
Willy Whitney has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Punk Abbestia is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Whitney is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Punk Abbestia comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Abbestia has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
