The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kateb missing with knees to the body.
Kateb is trying to break the clinch but Mayfield is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mayfield is trying to drag Kateb to the mat but Kateb just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kateb wants a takedown.
We've been hearing reports that Mayfield has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Mayfield is pressed up against the cage. Kateb has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mayfield down to the mat. Mayfield avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Baker Mayfield has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Abel Kateb.
Kateb looks for a takedown but Mayfield sprawls well.
Kateb tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mayfield was well out of range. Poor timing from Kateb.

Mayfield throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kateb's waist but Kateb gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mayfield off to one side.
Kateb appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Kateb lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kateb.

Mayfield shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kateb's guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mayfield's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Kateb escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mayfield gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mayfield accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mayfield is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Mayfield might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mayfield postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Kateb has momentary wrist control but Mayfield slips an elbow through the middle.

Mayfield drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mayfield jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mayfield is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Kateb frees his head nicely. Oh but Mayfield has switched to an armbar! Kateb is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
