Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Evgeni Elkemenchi (ranked 5220 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willie Salazar (ranked 4564 p4p, 0 weight class). Evgeni Elkemenchi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Willie Salazar's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

7 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Willie Salazar!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salazar checks the leg kick nicely there.
Salazar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Elkemenchi's waist but Elkemenchi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Salazar off to one side.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Salazar has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Elkemenchi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Elkemenchi lands a few punches from side control.
Salazar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Elkemenchi wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Salazar is still trying to improve position.
A lull in the action here.
Elkemenchi has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Elkemenchi works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Salazar tries to buck Elkemenchi off but Elkemenchi is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Elkemenchi lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Salazar is rocked!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Elkemenchi scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Salazar is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Elkemenchi can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Evgeni Elkemenchi!
