PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dino D (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gus Rojas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rojas is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Face-Fisted" by Dethklok. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dino D!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gus Rojas!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rojas scores with a body shot.
Rojas misses with a looping right.
Rojas fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rojas throws a low kick, looking for D's leg but D calmly moves out of range.
Rojas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rojas.

D decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
D trying to advance position but Rojas counters by regaining guard.
Rojas looking to control.

D stands up from Rojas's guard - D perhaps looking for a knockout.
Rojas is looking to clinch but D is avoiding it.
Gus Rojas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A slapping leg kick lands for D.
D closes the distance and clinches up with Rojas, looking for a takedown. D pushes Rojas against the cage but Rojas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rojas tries to clinch up but D circles away and keeps his distance.
A good leg kick by Rojas.
Gus Rojas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

D looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Rojas trying to control but D postures up.
Rojas keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
D thows a huge punch but Rojas dodges it nicely.

D looking for a submission but Rojas manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Rojas wants to sweep but no luck.
D being controlled here momentarily.
D throws and elbow that misses. Rojas uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in D's guard. Nice move by Rojas!
D is looking to stand up but Rojas isn't so interested in that idea.

Rojas postures up.

D has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rojas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
D is breathing heavily.

Rojas stands and steps away. D gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Rojas pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rojas wants to slow D down by chopping away at his legs.
Rojas wants to clinch up but D keeps it at a distance.
D blocks the body kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from D.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rojas throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rojas tries to clinch there but D circles away.
Rojas wants to clinch.

D scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rojas manages to work his way to half guard, despite D's best efforts.
Rojas is trying to control but can't.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with D in particular looking to stall.
Rojas gets full guard.
D trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dino D dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Rojas clinches with his opponent.

D gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rojas regains guard.
Rojas keeping moving, preventing D from controlling successfully.
D being controlled here momentarily.
D is looking to stand up but Rojas won't let him.
Rojas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
D loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Dis looking to pass into half guard but Rojas pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rojas is in guard.
D wants to hit a switch here but Rojas passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for D there!
Rojas controlling the position easily from mount.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
D tries to hold on but Rojas pushes him away.
Rojas trying to control but he's not successful this time.
D can't escape the position.
You get the feeling that D really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Rojas trying to control but D is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rojas controlling the position easily from mount.
D sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rojas wants to lay and pray for a moment but D keeps working.
D trying to control but Rojas postures up.
D works his way to full guard. Good work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
D is wriggling around but Rojas manages to pass to half guard.
D wants to control but Rojas passes into side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dino D will probably get the nod.
That's time! D's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

D clinches up with Rojas and pushes him back against the cage.
D has Rojas pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rojas manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Rojas landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Rojas looks to throw an elbow but misses.

D drags the fight down to the ground.
D wants to stand but Rojas is controlling the position.
Rojas not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rojas's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's one minute gone in the round.
D is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rojas stays in close to D's body and controls the position.
Rojas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. D swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Rojas content to stall in guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
D wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Rojas is now in half guard.
D flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
D is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dino D overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rojas controlling the action here.
D regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rojas looking to pass the guard.
D trying to keep a closed guard but Rojas is proving a slippery customer.
Rojas stopping the sweep attempt from D.
D manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rojas manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rojas has his hands on D's head, controlling the position.
Rojas trying to strike off his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rojas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Gus Rojas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rojas has momentary wrist control but D slips an elbow through the middle.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Gus Rojas.
I think D has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
