Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Timmy Gregory (ranked 5936 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Murdock (ranked 5737 p4p, 416 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Timmy Gregory!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Murdock!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murdock shoots in for a takedown but Gregory shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Murdock is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gregory sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
No luck for Murdock with that takedown attempt.
Timmy Gregory has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Murdock.
Murdock keeps the fight on the outside.

and Gregory moves into the clinch.
Gregory changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Murdock fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gregory uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Murdock.

Gregory is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gregory seems to be looking for submissions.
Gregory tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Murdock.
Gregory perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Murdock desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Murdock is looking for a sweep. Gregory is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Gregory decides to return to a standing position.

Gregory gets tackled into the cage by Murdock. Murdock maintains the clinch.
Gregory wants to break the clinch but can't.
Gregory's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Gregory has had enough of the clinch but Murdock keeps him there for the moment.

Murdock's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice takedown defense from Gregory. No joy for Murdock on that attempt.
Gregory swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Murdock counters with a straight right hand.
Murdock misses with a head kick.

Murdock closes the distance and pushes Gregory back into the cage.
Murdock is looking to control Gregory's arms but Gregory gets an underhook and turns him. Now Murdock has his back to the cage.

Murdock pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Murdock looks winded!

Gregory fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Murdock, pushing him back against the cage.
Gregory is trying to pull guard but Murdock turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Gregory tries to pull guard but Murdock forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Gregory prevents a takedown attempt there.
Murdock tries a body shot but Gregory blocks it.

Gregory decides to pull guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gregory pulls Murdock in to control the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Murdock throws a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jason Murdock will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Gregory gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Gregory is taking a breather. Murdock says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gregory could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gregory is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Murdock is trying to control but Gregory manages to pass to mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gregory cracks Murdock with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Murdock from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Murdock is trying to stand back up.
Murdock looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Gregory goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Murdock escapes and is now in half guard on top.

Gregory wants to control but Murdock is keeping busy.
Gregory is trying to get back to full guard.
Gregory is refusing to be controlled, as Murdock sits in half guard.
Gregory keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Murdock is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gregory is just riding it out for now. Murdock eventually gives up the hold.

Gregory is defending against the submission attempts here by Murdock.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gregory moves in looking to clinch but Murdock pushes him off.
Jason Murdock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Murdock tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gregory was well out of range. Poor timing from Murdock.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Gregory has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Murdock avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Murdock has Gregory pressed against the cage, preventing Gregory from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Gregory tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Murdock just stands there and leans against the cage.
Murdock drops down looking for an ankle pick but Gregory pulls his leg out and moves away.

Gregory has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Murdock is proving hard to escape from.
Gregory controls from within his opponent's guard.
Gregory lands a couple of digs.
Murdock trying to control the position.
Murdock wants to stand up but Gregory is controlling him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Murdock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gregory defends it easily.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Gregory might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Murdock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Gregory lands a couple of digs.
Gregory wants to get up but he can't break Murdock's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Murdock instigates a clinch.

Murdock manages to break the clinch.

Murdock moves into the clinch.

Murdock pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gregory tries to clinch but Murdock is having none of it.

Murdock gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Gregory tries for a takedown but Murdock manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Timmy Gregory. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gregory gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Murdock regains guard.
Gregory stopping the sweep attempt from Murdock.
Gregory not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Timmy Gregory overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Murdock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gregory is one step ahead there.

Gregory has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Murdock clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jason Murdock comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Murdock has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
