Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Rivero (ranked 6091 p4p, 0 weight class) and Avery Lobrutto (ranked 5879 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lobrutto darts in and clinches Rivero up against the cage.
Rivero tries to break the clinch but Lobrutto is controlling the position.
Lobrutto tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Rivero avoids it.
Lobrutto is trying to pull guard but Rivero has him pressed against the cage.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Rivero throws a head punch that misses.
Rivero tries a knee to the head but Lobrutto blocks it.
Rivero is trying to push Lobrutto away but Lobrutto has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Rivero wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lobrutto has him pressed against the cage.

Rivero breaks the clinch.
Rivero tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lobrutto swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lobrutto blocks a jab.
Lobrutto lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Rivero moves in looking to clinch but Lobrutto pushes him off.

Lobrutto changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rivero looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lobrutto working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rivero on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Lobrutto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rivero wants to get back to his feet but Lobrutto drags him back down.
Lobrutto cracks Rivero with a big elbow.
Rivero is pushing Lobrutto's head away, looking to escape. Lobrutto manages to hold on to the position though.
Rivero tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Lobrutto controlling the positon.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rivero trying to get back to his feet but Lobrutto is in full control for now.
Lobrutto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rivero is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Lobrutto is riding his opponent, not letting Rivero buck him off.
Rivero really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lobrutto is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Rivero has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Lobrutto might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rivero haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rivero manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.

A looping hook to the body misses from Rivero. Lobrutto does a little dance to reset his feet.
Lobrutto closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rivero circles away.

Rivero fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lobrutto manages to avoid it.
Rivero throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lobrutto.
Lobrutto tries to counter with a clinch but Rivero shakes him off and moves away.
Rivero throws a series of punches but Lobrutto avoids them all with ease.

Rivero tries to sprawl but Lobrutto drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lobrutto is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

A close round but Avery Lobrutto will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rivero pushes Lobrutto against the cage. Rivero is working some dirty boxing. Rivero pushes off with a quick right hook! Lobrutto goes down! Lobrutto tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Rivero moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
