PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Polamalu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Bingisser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bingisser has chosen Can't Be Touched as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Polamalu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Robert Bingisser!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bingisser blocks a head kick by Polamalu.
Robert Bingisser seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bingisser looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Polamalu shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Polamalu working over Bingisser with some ground and pound. Bingisser looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Polamalu is controlling the pace.
Bingisser tries to get to full guard but Polamalu has control of the leg.

Polamalu is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bingisser!

Polamalu fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Polamalu cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bingisser takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Polamalu controlling the pace for now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bingisser can't escape the position.
Polamalu could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Polamalu takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Bingisser is in a horrible position here. Polamalu smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Polamalu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Polamalu seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bingisser for as long as he can get away with.

Polamalu wants to finish this one by submission but Bingisser is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Polamalu.

Polamalu postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Bingisser looks a forlorn figure.
Polamalu lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bingisser is squirming around, avoiding Polamalu's attempts to control the action.
Bingisser is trying to stand up.
Polamalu connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Polamalu looking to control and managing it successfully.
Polamalu's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Tony Polamalu just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

No joy there for Bingisser, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Bingisser rushes Polamalu and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Polamalu holds on and takes a little breather.

Polamalu might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bingisser wants to stand but Polamalu has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Polamalu pulls Bingisser in to control the position.

Bingisser is fighting to break Polamalu's control of his arms but Polamalu is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Polamalu pulls Bingisser in close to prevent any damage.
Bingisser wants to stand but Polamalu has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Polamalu has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bingisser off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Polamalu shoots in but Bingisser avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Polamalu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bingisser is just riding it out for now. Polamalu eventually gives up the hold.

Polamalu passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Bingisser!
Bingisser is trying to stand but he's just given Polamalu his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Polamalu is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Bingisser just trying to survive but Polamalu is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Polamalu has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Bingisser's body.

Tony Polamalu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Polamalu can't keep his opponent in guard - Bingisser advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bingisser wants to pass the guard but Polamalu is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Polamalu drives through and clinches with Bingisser against the cage.
Tony Polamalu is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bingisser tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Polamalu's elbow.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Polamalu, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
