Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Mitterer (ranked 6010 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Suarez Costa (ranked 7687 p4p, 0 weight class). Miguel Suarez Costa will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kyle Mitterer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Suarez Costa!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitterer doesn't manage to clinch there - Suarez Costa circles away.
Suarez Costa feints the counter takedown.
Mitterer on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Mitterer clinches up against the cage.
Mitterer tries to break free but Suarez Costa pushes him back against the cage.
Mitterer softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Mitterer jumps guard but Suarez Costa turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Suarez Costa is fighting off a takedown attempt but Mitterer is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Suarez Costa to the mat. Suarez Costa regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Mitterer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Suarez Costa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mitterer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Suarez Costa isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mitterer stacks Suarez Costa on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mitterer!

Mitterer tries to get to his feet but Suarez Costa is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Mitterer in his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mitterer throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Suarez Costa works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mitterer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mitterer wants to stand and escape but instead Suarez Costa has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Suarez Costa trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Miguel Suarez Costa will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Suarez Costa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mitterer's waist but Mitterer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Suarez Costa off to one side.
Suarez Costa closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mitterer circles away.

Mitterer gets the takedown into side control.

Suarez Costa sneaks out the side door and pushes Mitterer away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Suarez Costa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Suarez Costa shoots in looking for a takedown. Mitterer tries to sprawl out of it but Suarez Costa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mitterer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Mitterer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Suarez Costa sprawls well initially but Mitterer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kyle Mitterer will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mitterer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Horrible takedown attempt by Suarez Costa or perhaps it was just good defense by Mitterer, which made it look bad.
Suarez Costa shoots in but Mitterer avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Mitterer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

It looked like Mitterer was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Mitterer leaves Suarez Costa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kyle Mitterer.
I think Mitterer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
