Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Floyd Carr (ranked 24848 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe James (ranked 5973 p4p, 566 weight class). Joe James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Floyd Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe James!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
James in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Carr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Carr really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
James tries to stand but Carr is controlling from the bottom.
James wants to stand and escape but instead Carr has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Carr would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James wants to sweep here but Carr controlling him for the moment.

James is trying to keep Carr in close.
Carr wanted to stand there but James had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
James tries to buck Carr off but Carr is having none of it.

What's James going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Carr wants to control but James is keeping him busy.

Carr controlling the position.
James can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

James looking to score a takedown here. Carr is defending well but James drives through and ends up in Carr's guard.
James trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
James looking to sit in guard and control but Carr gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Carr controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Carr trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Carr is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Carr chips away with some ground and pound.
Carr wants to stand but James has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

James is working an open guard so Carr takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

James closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Carr to the mat! Carr manages to get full guard.

Carr has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. James has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Floyd Carr dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A head kick misses from Carr.
James lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

James feints and as Carr raises his hands in defense, James changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
James postures up in Carr's guard and throws a big left but Carr blocks it.
Carr controls James momentarily but James frees himself.
James missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as James accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
James must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carr is pulling down on James's head to control his posture.
Carr has a closed guard, preventing James from standing up.
Carr is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A right hook to the body lands for James.

James gets control of Carr's arms and successfully pulls guard. James will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
James looking for a sweep. Not yet James, not yet.
Carr sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed James's guard.
Carr will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
James wants to control but Carr is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Carr is trying to control. James wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Carr gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

James shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Carr napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Carr is looking to get back to his feet here but James is keeping cool and he's managed to take Carr's back.

James slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Carr is trying to shake James off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! James won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

James shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
James is breathing heavily.

Carr avoiding damage under a succession of punches from James.

James is working for a submission of some sort.
James prevents Carr from improving his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
James trying to control from Carr's half guard. Carr has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Joe James will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Carr's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


James throws a sloppy head kick and Carr moves out of range easily.

James bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carr throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

James instigates a clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Carr throws an elbow but misses.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. James obliges.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carr is looking for a takedown up against the cage. James gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

James has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Carr is trying to keep an underhook but James manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Carr is refusing to be controlled, as James sits in half guard.

James is looking for a kimura but Carr is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for James to get the leverage.
James takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
James trying to control from half guard but Carr is working away.
Carr is looking to escape.
James throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

James decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
James tries a head kick but it misses.

James closes the distance and clinches.

James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Carr has closed the distance and engaged James in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Carr.
James makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Carr breaks the clinch.
James scores with a shot to the body.

James moves into range and clinches up with Carr.
Carr has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. James is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Floyd Carr. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

James gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carr is not content to let James control the position.

James tries to pass the half guard into mount. Carr knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Carr is trying to stand up here but James is controlling him well.

James gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

James gets a double leg takedown into Carr's guard.

Carr pushes James off and gets back to his feet.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carr.

Carr closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. James quickly recovers to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James is looking to control Carr's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?

Carr is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Carr stalling.
Carr has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

James looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Carr tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Joe James.
I think James has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
