The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Braddock holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Donk. Braddock catches Colnago right on the button with a cross.
Colnago scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Braddock ducks under a wild hook from Colnago.
Decent striking displayed by Colnago there.
Colnago ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Colnago misses the target.
Colnago throws an off balance right hand
enabling Braddock to counter with a crisp jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A looping hook to the body misses from Colnago. Braddock does a little dance to reset his feet.
Colnago gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Braddock.

Braddock bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Braddock doesn't manage to clinch there - Colnago circles away.

Colnago throws a lazy uppercut

and Braddock counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Braddock lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Braddock tries to work over Colnago's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Colnago's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Braddock lands a body punch.
Colnago fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Colnago swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Braddock lands a body shot in the clinch.
Braddock gets through Colnago's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Colnago is breathing heavily.
Braddock scores with a shot to the side of Colnago's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Braddock breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A slow jab from Colnago misses its intended target.
Colnago has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Braddock ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Colnago moves away.
Colnago is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Braddock connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Colnago tumbling to the canvas! Braddock pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Colnago was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). John Braddock!
John Braddock is the new heavyweight champion!
A very excited looking John Braddock rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
