PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lielais Bullis (ranked 5813 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah Hartmann Jr (ranked 6088 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lielais Bullis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Hartmann Jr!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Francis DeMontford and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bullis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hartmann Jr.
Bullis keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bullis seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Hartmann Jr scores with a kick to the midsection.

Bullis closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Hartmann Jr's guard.
Hartmann Jr looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bullis is one step ahead there.
Hartmann Jr looking to control.
Hartmann Jr wants to stand and escape but Bullis is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bullis with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bullis wants to get up but he can't break Hartmann Jr's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Bullis looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hartmann Jr trying to keep a closed guard but Bullis is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hartmann Jr throws a wild body kick that Bullis sees coming a mile off.

Hartmann Jr shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bullis napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bullis prevents Hartmann Jr from improving position.

Bullis is trying to control Hartmann Jr's posture but Hartmann Jr avoids it.
Hartmann Jr trying to control the action but Bullis is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Bullis's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hartmann Jr tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hartmann Jr has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bullis is not content to let Hartmann Jr control the position.
Bullis has one of Hartmann Jr's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Hartmann Jr thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bullis sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hartmann Jr stops Bullis from getting back to his feet.
Hartmann Jr wants to stand up but Bullis has a hold of him and won't allow it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bullis wants to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hartmann Jr is defended easily by Bullis.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hartmann Jr gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bullis to score an easy takedown into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lielais Bullis will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hartmann Jr misses with a takedown attempt - Bullis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Bullis manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hartmann Jr on his heels. He'll look to pass Hartmann Jr's guard now, I'm sure.

Hartmann Jr wriggles free and stands up.
Bullis throws a lazy right hand but Hartmann Jr sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hartmann Jr fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bullis half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Hartmann Jr. Bullis shrugs it off though.
Hartmann Jr throws a head kick that misses

and Bullis counters by clinching up.
Bullis jumps guard but Hartmann Jr stands there with Bullis around his waist. Bullis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bullis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hartmann Jr pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hartmann Jr tries to pull guard but Bullis holds him up against the cage and eventually Hartmann Jr drops back down to his feet.
Lielais Bullis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Noah Hartmann Jr.
Hartmann Jr is looking to break free of the clinch but Bullis has double underhooks.

Bullis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bullis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hartmann Jr is trying to keep Bullis in close.
Noah Hartmann Jr has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bullis content to stall in guard here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hartmann Jr wants to sweep here but Bullis controlling him for the moment.
Bullis wants to pass the guard but Hartmann Jr is keeping the position.

Hartmann Jr looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Bullis postures up and lands a big shot to Hartmann Jr's brow.

Bullis wants to pass the guard but Hartmann Jr is keeping the position.
Bullis advances to half guard.
Hartmann Jr wants to improve his position but Bullis is controlling well.
Bullis wants to pass to mount but Hartmann Jr is defending the position.
Hartmann Jr has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bullis is working away from the top position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hartmann Jr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hartmann Jr fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Bullis checks it well.
Bullis fails to land with a series of punches.
Hartmann Jr only half commits to the counter leg kick.

Bullis shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Hartmann Jr is breathing heavily.
Bullis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bullis tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hartmann Jr.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lielais Bullis will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


No joy there for Hartmann Jr, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hartmann Jr.
Bullis takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Hartmann Jr misses with a jab, cross combination.

Bullis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Bullis content to stall in guard here.
Bullis distracts Hartmann Jr with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hartmann Jr is trying to control the position but Bullis postures up.
Bullis keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hartmann Jr's head.
Bullis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Hartmann Jr is looking to stand up but Bullis isn't so interested in that idea.
Bullis passes Hartmann Jr's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bullis wants to get back to his feet.

Bullis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bullis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Hartmann Jr tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bullis defends well and Hartmann Jr ends up having to push Bullis into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Bullis fails with a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bullis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hartmann Jr swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hartmann Jr looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hartmann Jr goes for a double leg but Bullis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bullis continues to drive forward.
Sloppy strikes from Hartmann Jr. Those never looked like landing.
Hartmann Jr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bullis clinches up with Hartmann Jr and pushes him back against the cage.

Bullis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Bullis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bullis stands up over Hartmann Jr, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lielais Bullis.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bullis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
