Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Speka Mitrikis (ranked 5816 p4p, 0 weight class) and Atra Roka (ranked 5783 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Speka Mitrikis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Atra Roka!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Ben Hemmingworth and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roka lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Roka.

Roka tries to keep at a distance but Mitrikis has taken the fight into the clinch.
Roka wants to stall.

Mitrikis manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Roka controlling from the top position.
Mitrikis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mitrikis tries to strike from the bottom.
Roka is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Mitrikis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Roka manages to get himself to full guard.


Roka has his foot on Mitrikis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mitrikis works his way back into a safe position though.

Roka has a closed guard, preventing Mitrikis from standing up.

Mitrikis wants to get up but he can't break Roka's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Mitrikis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mitrikis controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Roka looks to land a body kick but Mitrikis moved away.
Mitrikis blocks a head kick by Roka.
Mitrikis changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mitrikis throws a sloppy head kick and Roka moves out of range easily.
Roka dives in for a single leg takedown but Mitrikis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Mitrikis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mitrikis.

Roka jumps guard but Mitrikis turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Speka Mitrikis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Atra Roka.
Mitrikis content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Roka wants to stand but Mitrikis is controlling his posture from full guard.

Mitrikis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Roka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Roka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Roka must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Mitrikis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Roka wants to pass the guard but Mitrikis is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Roka is looking to work some ground and pound but Mitrikis has wrist control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mitrikis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Roka shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mitrikis sprawls well. Mitrikis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Roka gets slowly back to his feet.
Roka has a takedown stuffed.
Mitrikis seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Speka Mitrikis will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Roka wants to get back to his feet but Mitrikis passes into half guard.
Mitrikis seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Roka is looking to control Mitrikis's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Roka avoid being mounted?

Roka manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Mitrikis keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Mitrikis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Roka misses with a hook.
Mitrikis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Mitrikis is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Roka to keep the fight standing.

Mitrikis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mitrikis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Speka Mitrikis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Roka tries to free his leg and advance position but Mitrikis is retaining full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Mitrikis is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Roka tries to keep at a distance but Mitrikis has taken the fight into the clinch.

Roka steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mitrikis.
Mitrikis keeps the fight on the outside.
Mitrikis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Mitrikis shoots for a takedown but Roka saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Roka defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mitrikis.
Roka shoots in and drives through. Mitrikis sprawls well.
Mitrikis tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Roka manages to circle out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roka tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mitrikis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mitrikis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Roka.

Mitrikis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Roka to the ground. Mitrikis is now in Roka's guard.

Mitrikis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Roka swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Roka shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mitrikis as he avoids it easily.
Speka Mitrikis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Atra Roka.
Roka attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Roka tries to sprawl but Mitrikis drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mitrikis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roka keeps working.
It looks like Mitrikis is going to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mitrikis prevents Roka from improving his position.
Mitrikis controlling the pace.
Mitrikis is thwarting Roka's attempts to control the position.
Mitrikis takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Roka is trying to maintain the position but Mitrikis is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Roka swinging wildly here.
Roka takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Roka enables Mitrikis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Roka manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Roka wants to get back to his feet but Mitrikis passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mitrikis tries to stand but can't do so whilst Roka controls his leg.
Mitrikis is taking a breather. Roka says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Mitrikis is working for a submission of some sort.

And that's the end of the fight!
Speka Mitrikis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mitrikis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
