PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Truman Madden (ranked 24883 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rui Vidal (ranked 5766 p4p, 575 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rui Vidal was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Truman Madden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rui Vidal!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madden jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Vidal bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Madden really is a fat lump.

Vidal rushes Madden and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Vidal wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Madden has him pressed against the cage.

Vidal turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Vidal manages to end up in side control.
Madden tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Vidal looking to control but Madden is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Vidal sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Madden is trying desperately to improve position.
Vidal misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Madden wants to hold on but Vidal pushes him away.
Madden has given up his back here.

Vidal looking to break Madden's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Madden remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Vidal will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
I would not like to be Madden right now.
Madden might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Madden can't escape the position.

Vidal controlling well, preventing Madden from escaping the position.
Madden trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Madden is trying to get back to his feet but Vidal has full control of the position and if anything, Madden has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Madden looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Madden prevents Vidal from getting a body triangle.
Madden wants to escape the position.

Vidal doesn't have the hooks in and Madden manages to turn into his guard.
Vidal is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Madden is fighting to break Vidal's control of his arms but Vidal is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Madden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Vidal is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Madden looking to sit in guard and control but Vidal gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Madden is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Vidal looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Madden wants to sweep here but Vidal controlling him for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Madden wants to stand but Vidal is controlling the position.

Rui Vidal dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Madden shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Truman Madden has been cut.
Vidal lands with a right hand.
Vidal bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Madden's head.

Madden is rocked!
Madden walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Madden limp body while Vidal jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
