And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Reigns!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reigns scores with a takedown into Battle's guard.

Battle on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Battle tries to get out of the position.

Battle is looking for a triangle but Reigns pushes his legs off easily.
Battle manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reigns manages to get himself to full guard.

Battle controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Battle chips away with some ground and pound.
Battle slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Reigns should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Battle tries to stand but Reigns is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Reigns misses with a takedown attempt - Battle sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Reigns is looking to clinch.
Reigns throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Reigns is looking to clinch but Battle is avoiding it.

Battle closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Reigns did well to prevent Battle getting side control.
Battle seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Reigns is trying to control but Battle manages to pass to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Battle has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Battle with shots to the head and body - Reigns looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Reigns closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Battle did well to prevent Reigns getting side control.
Battle tries to kick Reigns off but Reigns keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Chris Battle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Battle is pulling down on Reigns's head. It's preventing any offense from Reigns, at least for the moment.
Reigns must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Reigns has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Battle to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Reigns is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Battle pulls down on the head and he's put Reigns to sleep! This one is all over!
