Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cain Alvarado (ranked 5494 p4p, 499 weight class) and Pietro De Negri (ranked 6483 p4p, 541 weight class). Pietro De Negri is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarado misses with a double jab

and De Negri counters by moving into the clinch.
Alvarado tries to break the clinch but De Negri is controlling the position.
De Negri prevents a body shot from Alvarado.

Alvarado is fighting off a takedown attempt but De Negri is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Alvarado to the mat. Alvarado regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Alvarado sneaks out the side door and pushes De Negri away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Cain Alvarado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Negri with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Alvarado to score with a decent uppercut.

Alvarado gets caught flat footed, as De Negri shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Alvarado will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Alvarado isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. De Negri stacks Alvarado on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by De Negri!
Alvarado is working to avoid the ground and pound but De Negri connects with a decent elbow.

De Negri is standing up over Alvarado. Alvarado looks to escape but De Negri dives into side control.

De Negri scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Alvarado doesn't seem bothered though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alvarado wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

De Negri manages to pull guard.

Alvarado is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! De Negri is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! De Negri has escaped and now he's on top!

It looks like De Negri might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

De Negri stands up and waves to Alvarado to follow him.

De Negri ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. De Negri no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Alvarado is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and De Negri defends it well.

De Negri holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Alvarado is working for a submission of some sort.
Alvarado prevents De Negri from standing back up.
De Negri tries to get to full guard but Alvarado has control of the leg.

and De Negri counters with a shoot takedown. Alvarado fights it but they end up in guard.

Alvarado has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. De Negri is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Alvarado.
De Negri is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

De Negri works to advance to full mount. Alvarado defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The referee warns Alvarado that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

De Negri is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Alvarado is surviving well by controlling De Negri's body position as best he can.
