The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Habiba shoots in but no luck this time.
Kovarov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Habiba wants to clinch.

Habiba closes the distance and pushes Kovarov back into the ropes.
Habiba trying to stall but Kovarov improves his position.
Kovarov is trying to break free.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Habiba throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kovarov blocks it with crossed arms.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Kovarov obliges.
Habiba is trying to push Kovarov away but Kovarov has him pressed against the ropes, so he's going nowhere.
Habiba wants to stall.
Habiba pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.
I was talking to Habiba's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Habiba is looking to control Kovarov's arms but Kovarov gets an underhook and turns him. Now Habiba has his back to the ropes.
Nice body punch from Kovarov - that landed with a thud.

Kovarov manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Kovarov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Habiba is one step ahead there.
Habiba has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Kovarov is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Habiba has his hands clasped together but Kovarov extends and breaks Habiba's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kovarov.
